Hello im a new porsche owner picked up sweet 85.5 944 non turbo and other day i backed up w ebrake on not realizing i got on the gass and go nowhere, so i take ebrake off while calling myself a few choice words (lol) and whene i go forward i hear a horribal popping as i move forward and its binding up and popping so i SLOWWWWLY pull back in praying and park her i call mechanic he says theres a u joint connecting torque tube to tranny, and its a rear axel< then its some protective shield on torqutube that keeps it aligned, or a rubber boot, so anyone who deals with these cars if you could please tell me the problem, so i can fix it, i don't want to get ripped off so any help will be greatly appreciated, Thanx TJ.

Welcome to the forum. It's hard to diagnose noises over the internet but I suggest you safely jack the rear of the car (using jack stands) spin each wheel to try and determine the source of the noise. It could be something as simple as a stone caught in the rotor, damaged park brake shoe or any number of things.
