Hi everybody,

and a big "Hello" from Germany - I´m living near Heidelberg, Germany and this is my first contribution to this board. Until last year I drove a 944S2 4-cylinder Coupe for 12years (235.000 kms) and got a 2002 996 Carrera C2 3.6 ltrs. last April.

I´m registered in some German Porsche Forums, too - maybe I can look into these to translate informations, if specific questions are discussed here.

So long,

911German

Welcome to the board. I am thinking of getting a 944 Turbo or S2 in the near future. How did you like it?

Hi.

I bought my 944S2 with 35.000 kms from the first owner (who has been an employee of Porsche) in 1993. I drove the car day-by-day all the year round, 12 years and it has been a fabulous car. The only necessary repair work was caused by a broken clutch and the air-conditioning which had to be replaced due to German environment regulations. During allt the 200.000 kms it has been a reliable and very fast companion - maximum speed was 240 km/h on the German Highway (no speed limit).

Only Carreras or Ferraris have been faster. I sold the car to a fan who now tunes the car - and as he told me, he has much fun with the car still today.

Many thanks for your welcome,

I´m just calculating whether to buy a 997-mask for the 996 head lamps. This is offered by STROSEK. With this tool the 996 looks (nearly) like the brandnew 997.

Cool - isn´t it?

Hey,

how did you fix the masks? By means of glue? I´m somewhat unsure to tighten them by myself.

If you buy them from Strosek, you get instructions for installation. If you have the headlight assembly with headlight washers then you need to slide out the headlight assemblly (easy to do with instructions from your operator's manual). Then you need to remove the chrome capfrom the headlight washer feed line and glue the covers on. Strosek supplies a good adhesive for that part. Once the coveres are glued on you can re-attach the chrome cap and slide the headlight mechanism back into place.

If you don't have the headlight washer setup then you just glue the covers on the the headlights per instructions from Strosek. They can be removed and the adhedive washed off, so you are not doing any damage to the car itself. Try www.strosek.de . Cost is about $350US 2 1/2 years ago.

Oh hes, they come all primed so you do have to have them painted. I would strongly recommend Eric at www.bumperplugs.com He did mind and the match was perfect and the quality was factory.

Good luck! :)
