996 to GT3!? I didnt even know this was possible.

Yeah don't think so, it does look good however it will not perform as a GT3. There is nothing worse then having a POSER car. I have a 2000 996, I am going to put the Aero kit body on which is a new bumper, sideskirts, rear bumper and put the wing on that looks like a double banana. It may resemble the old school 996 GT3 but will not be a GT3. Instead of putting a GT3 crest on the back, I am going to take off the CARRERA and put 911 in cursive style chrome. That way I have sportier looking car but not posing as something it is not. I saw a few pics of people taking their 986 Boxster and putting a Carrera GT kit on it, looking like a mini Carrera GT. You may fake out the non-Porsche poeple, however the real Porsche people are going to snicker behind your back. I do believe in enhanceing your car but not makeing it look like something it isa not. How silly would it be for someone to take a base ford mustang V-6 and put a ford mustang saleem body kit. Are you really going to look at that guy and think he is super cool, or super stupid, the choice is yours

I did it to mine ( 996 gt3 look) and the only regret I have is the lack of GT3 motor/trans after competing in my 996 Cup car andf realizing the difference!!!!!! Of course I lowered it using all the right stuff so the look really changed the over all car performance too with the aero effects...at 140 mph she sticks to the road with virtually one hand on the wheel as opposed to the death grip I used to have to engauge on the wheel above 135. Of course I left the badge just because !!!

Then your not a poser, not that you need any type of comframation from me. I plan on doing the same thing putting an Aerokit on mine too. Im still a little shaky on lowering my car for two reason. 1: I bought the car used of course and I suspect it may have the x75 suspension in placed. the codes on my trunk lid are unreadable and im going off of a protective plate that is put on your oil reserve if you have the x75 suspension put on. So I may not need to get it lowered. 2: the ride is really nice even over bumps its nice, i have some people tell me that when they hit a bump in their stock 996, it feels like a tahoe going over bumps. My car does not feel like that and when I get the car pass 100mph it feel like it hugs the road and the ride becomes frightenly smooth.
