986 hardtop for 987

The profile of the side windows changed with the 987 so a 986 hardtop will not work. The 987 hardtop has a 987 part number. Supposedly if you put 986 windows in a 987 then a 986 hardtop will work. But then you will have a problem as the 987 soft top will then not work with 986 windows. If you see the 987 and 986 next to each other it is obvious the shape of the windows are different.

Also, a sales person told me the distance between the 2 mounting inserts change with the 987. But they looked the same to me. We might have a local 987 tech session in April and I am thinking of bringing my hardtop and humps and put them on a 987. I bet my humps will fit on a 987.

thanks for the info. Do you ever see a discounted price on hardtops from any Porsche dealers?
