Driver's side Mirror snapped

Recommended Posts

The driver's side mirror snapped off my 2002 S this AM.

Basically the surfaces that slide against each other when folding the mirror failed to fold the other way and snapped a hollow dowel section (sorry no photo - digital camera was stolen)

The dealer parts lady said I need to replace the center module 996 731 21904 G2C for about $270 (part only)

#1) Is this the right part at the right price?

#2) Right now I am holding the mirror onto the mirror base with racer's tape. If I glue these parts together on the normal mating surfaces(making the mirror non foldable) will it make it harder to fix when the replacement part arrives?

Send me an email and I will send you the page for the mirror so you can make sure it is the right part you need.  Then once you know for sure the part number I can look up the price.

Thanks for the diagram.

If the "mirror base" is half inside the mirror housing #2 and half outside, then the assembly is 996 731 219 04 or 996 731 219 05.

The broken part is visually #16 999 650 173 40 - but I find it hard to believe they would describe a metal part of mechanical value as part of the wiring harness. I'll need to disasemble things and look at the parts to make sure.
