I have a 1999 996 in Zenith blue. My engine deck lid (pop-up spoiler) is really scratched up. Does anyone know of a carbon fiber replacement? I’m thinking it’s going to be really hard to get the paint matched and carbon fiber would look really sharp. Also, what about carbon fiber roof rails? There’s seems to be everything else made in carbon fiber. I’ve looked everywhere for these and can’t find any source.
So, purchased the 991 Aerokit Wing from Suncoast a while back for my 2012 911S.
Removed the OEM wing, installed the aerokit wing during the winter. Didn't bother with the new control unit for the sunroof but did have to do some re-wiring on the rear-end electronics control unit b/c of my production year on my car. I followed the instructions provided step by step.
Last step was to go to dealership to have it programmed so the car knows the OEM wing that moves up and down is no longer there and the Aerokit Cup wing is now in place. That was what I did today...
Kind of a disappointing trip to the dealership...Went there to finally have them program the car so it knows the vehicle is now equipped with XAA - Aerokit Cup. I even saw it on the computer from the mechanic who was using PIWIS 3.
When i left and proceeded with testing out to make sure I don't get the spoiler loss error message again, it happened again. :(
When i went back to the dealership to show the picture of the "Spoiler Loss" error, he plugged in his computer to my OBDCII port and launched PIWIS 3 (not PIWIS 2 since they upgraded).
It clearly showed the car now knows XAA - Aerokit Cup. Didn't know what else to do now. sigh...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Cannot find mention of this switch in my owners manual ...
PET calls it "Display Specimen," which isn't too helpful, but apparently it's an indicator or control for the trunk spoiler.
What does it do ... how does it work? Clearly it's a dash switch, not the footwell switch.
Apparently there are installation instructions somewhere ... can anyone post them or describe them?
Part number shown is for the glossy version ... matte version is 986 613 425 10 A05
A month ago, I found my third brake light coming out of the spoiler. I removed it completely and found the spring was missing on one side. I replace the spring and re-installed it no problem. Yesterday, I found the third brake light had come off again, this time the spring and the plastic end piece gone (same, right side). Are there any known issues with the third brake light. Anyone encountered this before and/or have any permanent solutions for this?
Thanks in advance.
UPDATE: I just noticed the description for this part says there is a newer design on the Suncoast site. Is the best route to just get the new part?
For early models, this is a newer design which has a more secure fit.
