2004 Cayenne 3.2l cranks, no start, new battery backfired through intake

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

*EDIT*

No fuel pressure at fuel rail, DS pump turns on, don't know if PS pump should as well, but still no fuel to fuel rail, depressing Schrader valve results in no fuel spurt.

*EDIT 2*

I inadvertently posted to the "part number request" forum, I didn't mean to do that!

Passenger side fuel pump runs, builds pressure to rail but no start. Smoke produced from intake tube and pooms and pops occasionally but no start still. Drivers side fuel pump runs as well but builds no pressure to the rail. Appears that fuel rail does not hold pressure after a few minutes as I can fully depress schrader valve and no fuel is produced.

I recently bought a 2004 V6 cayenne from auction (risky but at least the price was good... maybe) and I have a no run condition. So far I've replaced the battery and fully charged it overnight, pulled fuse 14 and tried to start, then replaced and pulled fuse 13. I smell unburnt fuel and at one point this morning I had an intake backfire which blew the airbox apart (yay!!...). I noticed that the wires to the MAF were a little chewed up from a front end collision but the wires look intact despite the insulators being chewed.

I had read that it could be fuel pump related, or battery related (which shouldn't be the case for me with a new batt). I originally pulled codes P0864 - TCM Comm circuit generic and P2187 - system to lean at idle bank 1 but cleared those prior to replacing the battery.

Sorry to post a question for the first forum post, but I guess maybe that's par for the course.

Danny
