CDR-220 Four loud beeps and then powers off - Solved

2000 C2 Tiptronic, Factory HiFi option CDR-220

 

I figure this is a long shot but does anyone know what could cause this? This has happened a few times in the last month and twice this week.  The radio is playing (FM) and emits 5 loud beeps, then powers off. Sometimes it comes back on if I press the "On" button. Sometimes it might take a few minutes before it responds to that button. I checked the CDR-220 owners manual but there is no information on the beeps.

 

Solution:

Remove the faceplate and clean the contacts on the faceplate and on the radio with rubbing alcohol or electronics cleaner. Snap the faceplate back in securely.
