955 Cayenne - rear door inner metal panel removal

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have a rear door that will not open using the interior handle nor exterior handle (child lock is not on).

WD40 etc, banging  the handle/door has not worked so I am forced to take the door apart whilst it shut closed.

I have removed the door trim but I need to remove the inner metal panel so I can start to see the lock mechanism. There is a video by "Tips for Dummies" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYaJcSQsdtY&t=1193s which has been useful but like most videos the door is open to do such a job. I have removed the torx etc and the 4 rivets along the top. I have also removed the two rivet in top left and right corners which seem to rivet the door panel to the window frame, but the panel does not want to budge. The video indicates the removal of the rubber strip around the door - I cant because the door is closed.

Has anyone overcome this problem? Any further hints in removing the panel?

Many thanks
