Floating control module? Front Left Fender 957

Recommended Posts

This new-to-me has A) been in both front and rear salvage claim collisions and B) been worked on by half-arsed monkeys with something better to do. 🤕 Prior to this, my "favorite" find has been finding a socket loose in the battery tray, next to the hold down strap for the battery !!, which was resting on top of the vent tube meant to vent the, you know, poisonous gas from the battery to outside the passenger compartment (it was just sitting there, squished, connected to nada).

This one is not that bad, but while trying to correct the side marker lamp not working, I tried going in from behind the driver side headlamp.  I found A) there is no wiring loom connected to the sidemarker lamp, B) I will probably need to come in through the fender well, and C), this loose piece of kit just chilling in the empty space, with wires attached, but not screwed down to anything.

Can you help me identify what this is, and where it should be properly attached?
