2024 model software update details

Recommended Posts

Did you take delivery of your car or are you going to wait until the software upgrade is done in 4 weeks? I am in the same position and know nothing about what the upgrade involves. For now, I told the dealer just to keep the car until the software update is complete.

So, not knowing what the update updates, maybe smart to wait….  We spent about 1.5 hours programming keys, comfort settings, etc.  We finished my wife then me and then we exited the car, locked it and finished up the paperwork. Still at dealer , we then go to leave, open the car and poof - no settings saved. Maybe that’s part of the fix ….  Who knowns, because no one can tell us what the update if for.  We again programmed a few settings before leaving, but they didn’t work.   So we left a little disappointed.  But , we had just traded our 2023 Macan GTS bc of an annoying rattle and the pcm kept freezing.

Also, no more physical button for the garage door opener.  On the touchscreen - Homelink programmable icon. So you have to either program you home location into the pcm and a small icon comes up on the screen to press and hold when you get close to the garage OR you have to press the pcm homelink icon and then press another small icon on the screen after that.

Id look some of this stuff up in the manual, but they don’t give a full paper one anymore - our says “Digital” about 350 times and I couldn’t find it in the pcm.

Not sure why these car manufacturers have to be so cutting edge before they know what they’re doing?

UPDATE:  No Operations Manual supplied with the problematic 2024 Cayennes - at least not a comprehensive Digital Version.  So, when you look at the slim paper version you do get and see "Digital" 369 times, your screwed.  Good luck.

Thanks for all of this information - so sorry to hear you are having trouble with the settings being saved. Did you ever get that to work? Was there a trick to it? Bummer about not having a paper manual - is there any sort of manual online? And thanks for the info about the garage button or lack of one.

Any other issues you see with the car? I still did not pick up my car - waiting to hear that the software update is done and I'm guessing that could be the end of July.

Had to wipe user profile and reset everything....

None for this model.  PCNA keeps emailing us links for the older models when we've asked.   BUT, seeing as this is all new for this model, the links dont apply.  NOTHING ANYWHERE FOR THIS MODEL.  So ,  buyers are on their own.

Lane keep assist keeps trying to take over, jerks the cars around when driving.  So we turned this off which is disappointing bc my wife likes the feature - when its working properly of course.  Also, a few times when ive tried to open the door by pulling on the outside handle, the latch has refused to unlock.  Have to pull multiple times to open the driver door or use the fob.  So easy entry or whatever its called - keyless entry - is an issue....

Ugh. Thanks for all of this information. Really appreciate it.

1st road trip - 500 miles or so. Love the ride. Good acceleration.   Very comfortable. No off roading yet - all highway. The pcm didn’t freeze up at least like the 2023 Macan GTS. BUT - soft close feature on doors stopped working as well as the passenger side mirror won’t fold in on lock or respond if trying to close manually or make adjustments.

I have a new Cayenne sitting at the dealer in NYC. Dealer says they just received notice of the software upgrade needed. Anyone know if this is the same one from end of June or a new one?

Without some sort of update or spec. Number, no way to tell. My dealer would give the update number or tell what it involves / updates. Said they Porsche wouldn’t tell them.

off topic - but a little fyi I found out today....  Some may like the features so no big deal I guess.  Personally I like to be in control of whats enabled or disabled in my cars.  Time for a rubber band wind up I guess.   When we set up the driver profiles the dealer asked if we wanted the Driver Fatigue & Unresponsive Driver Braking enabled.  I have the DF enabled in my truck so no big deal.  Wife wanted URDB on, so we enabled it.  Well today, while waiting to get the windshield repaired I decided to mess around and turn off the features.  As soon as I did, I got 2 annoying flashing icons in the dash along with a ' 1 ' count message icon in the Home Screen.  I tried to clear the Home Screen message and couldn't - it would not go away and i could not stop the icons from flashing on the dash.  Additionally the is an ' ! ' on the dash telling you that there's a message.  So if thats not annoying enough, when you turn the car off, the options re-enable themselves.  So im not sure why the dealer asks if you want them on or not, but maybe once you enable them, they cannot be disabled.  The dealer could not answer why the message cant be cleared or why the icons flash or why the feature does not stay off if de-selected.

IF I HEAR ONE MORE TIME FROM THE DEALER, "ITS A NEW CAR, WE DONT KNOW", I think ill go crazy!

I spoke with Porsche NA the software is for hazard warning lights.  This being the case they will not release any cars without the programing fix.

weird that they have the notice sheet to sign.  so I either should not have been allowed to take delivery or the car is not one of the ones hat need the update.  But then, why dont I get a manual?  they won't install one in the pcm - but thats another topic!

What country are you in? I'm on a Porsche facebook page and someone said the update has come to the UK. I'm in the US. I stopped by my dealer yesterday and they had no information when the update would be available. I've been waiting over a month for my 2024 Cayenne that has just been sitting at the dealer.

10-4. Went for a test drive this am with service manager and he said they have them too at Porsche of New Orleans.  Going to wait until they do them on a few cars before we go in for it.  I inquired to him what all it covers and he said he wasn't sure - except - that it will change the way the steering way measures control , i.e, sensors in the steering wheel will now measure sensitivity of touch instead of grip, is what he told me.

YAAAY, software updates are here

Well this last Friday wife did what srvc manager said to do next time locks and mirrors start acting up - drive to dealer!  Duplicated issues and left car for software update that was released - original apt for update was today. Did partial update sat and completed today. Dealer pretty much hung the moon on that fixing all the issues. Even as late as this am when I called for update.

Well, this pm got text - software update finally finished and had no effect on the problems. Mirrors and locking / unlocking not working still a problem.

Waiting for next step…..

Sorry for the way I had to post the images - that the way they were sent them to me.  This is for our all gas - not hybrid.  Don't know anything on the hybrid sorry.  The below is what they said our Comprehensive Software Update we had yo wait for involved....  We couldn't even get an owner manual until the update was done.
