Modified OEM Muffler

I can't help you locate the guy your looking for, but I can share my experience with muffler modification... I took an "s" muffler (I liked the look of the twin tips, thougth I doubt there is any difference inside), cut the top upen, removed the two perforated inlet pipes (one on either side, and welded the thing back together (the shell is actually two layers; only the outer layer is stainless).

The result was improved sound and zero resonance issues.

All-in-all, kind of a pain to do, but well worth it :)

Sorry, I don't know what year muffler it was.. it was >'99 and before Porsche went to the removable tips; Hanging it on my '99 required a Porsche kit meant to hang the sport exhaust.

Also, I didn't take pictures... whenever I do a project like that, I have every intention of taking lots of before and after pictures, but it is only rarely that I end up actually taking the pictures. Mostly, I get to excited about the project, and too impatient to stop and get the camera, so I end up w/o pics :( I'm learning... future projects will have more photos :)

The two pipes I removed (each about 12") were the ones coming in from either side. The exhaust gas coming into the muffler goes through one of these tubes, and then either reaches the end of the tube (which is open) and enters the 1st chamber,or gets out of the tube through the perforations (into the same 1st chamber).

When I was doing my searches to decide how I wanted to mod the muffler, I found a before pic of a cut-open muffler... it was useful for me to have to know where I needed to cut the shell. I would guess that the picture is still floating around the web somewhere.
