Paint or Buy Aluminum Look rear center console?

Recommended Posts

I have decided that I want to get the rear center console (Alum look 986 552 995 09) for my 996, I already have the wheel, door bin covers, handles and instrument surround. I was wondering if anybody has painted the rear center currently in the car instead of spending the $500-600 for the OEM Alum look piece. If painting....is the color something easy to track down?

I looked at this and decided it was best left to the experts, the centre console has a lot of tricky edges as well as the need to get a deep sheen on the larger bits. See Loren's comments in the DIY section.

It is worth the money to get it done properly - in the UK it will cost you GBP 250 so it can't be much more that USD400 over there. See Bumperplugs.com

I just put one in my car TODAY, courtesy of C2Babe, Itzkirb, AND Loren's encouragement....It goes in like a breeze and ADDS ton's of color and contrast to an otherwise DRAB Black interior.....the coolest thing is that it ties in with my Alu-Look Steering wheel and AS Painted SeatBacks on the sport seats in my 996

Mine is OEM and came out of Josh's Seal Gray GT2.

Lucky guy aren't you Itzkirb!

Thanks again for helping me (actually you did most of the work) on that console install

By the way....where were you today ...we had 7 cars show up for th BAR drive....FAST AND FUN, but it was a short little trip!
