Tiptronic Slippage and Flaring

Recommended Posts

My 97 2.5 boxster has been no end of trouble, but its nearly working as it should.

- Motor rebuilt at 110K Kms

- Auto rebuilt at 114K Kms.

The auto was having a problem not going into first while at lights (under manual control). I then Lost drive within a month. Shop recommended an Auto re-build. Done !

After re-build still does not go into first at lights (under manual control) . but car can be driven.

New auto computer fitter, problem of not going into first GONE !!! whoo hoo.. BUT

Latest problem is that the gear box flares during gear changes !!! and

When going up a hill or under load (while holding a gear in manual mode) at a constant road speed the engine rev's by 500 or so RPM. Sounds like its dropped a gear but its in the same gear.

Could this be the torque converton not locking up any more ?

Can some one please tell me if its normal for the Torque converter to be told by the computer,to Stop lockup when going up a hill while holding a gear (i.e tiptronic in manual mode)

My car shop is telling me this is normal after they fitted a new control box. I done recall it doing that.

Thanks.
