Misfire but no CEL on '02 C4S

Recommended Posts

My '02 C4S has a slight misfire, but the CEL isn't coming on. I can't hear anything, but at around 2,750-3000 rpm, the car just feels really flat and doesn't want to pick up. It's not always there, but most of the time it is. It shows itself most if I'm just accelerating gently - start to accelerate gently away in 2nd from a slow corner and it seems to pickup fine up until close to 3k rpm and then the acceleration slows down, before picking up again at about 3250 or so. I notice it much less if I'm accelerating hard - perhaps its still there just not as noticable.

The CEL did come on a few weeks ago, and my dealer changed the MAF and the coil leads. I'm not 100% sure if this problem was there before this work (if it was, it's getting worse), but I'd be very grateful for any comments or thoughts on a possible cause.
