Tiptronic Question

Recommended Posts

Hi,

While parking my 2002 Targa this evening, I noticed that the tiptronic display was showing both 2nd gear and reverse gear at the same time. Changing between drive and reverse also seemed a bit clunkier than normal.

Is this normal - and I haven't noticed it before or does it indicate a problem?

Thanks for your help. The targa has around 25,000km and is used as a daily driver only.

I have a 996 Tip and had a Boxster Tip and that never happened to me, I do not think it is normal. I would get it checked out...is it still under warranty?

Derek, did it go backwards and forwards at the same time when you accelerated?

Kidding aside, no, never seen that, but I do not normally look at the dash lights when reversing, so couldn't tell you. After turning it off and on, is it still clunking? If it was just the light, I would look to see if the reverse lights go on when you put it in reverse. If not, it could be the reverse switch.

The mileage is not high, but with the age I wonder if it is low in transmission fluid or needs to be changed (and filter).
