1999, 996 C2 Cabrio I am hoping some of the guys can help me. I am changing my chain tensioners and the 1-3 new tensioner does not look like the old one (the IMS to crank tensioner looked identical old vs new). The new part number for the 1-3 is 996 105 186 02. The new part has a much thicker head and does not have the 2 rings on the body like the old one does. The tops are not identical but with a little squinting the new part number does look a little like it has 2 rings on top. Has anyone run into tensioners looking like this old vs new or does it look like I got an incorrect part? Thanks

I have a 99 996 with 8 way electric seats without lumbar adjustments and the only faults durametric pulls are the ones in the pic. I can't find answers on the forums or in google - Can anyone help? I would think durametrics would know the difference but could it be pulling the code because I don't have lumbar support? Thanks in advance

Update to an old thread: (This is an update only about the harness - the procedure has previously been well documented by others .) I recently purchased a 99 996. I came across several posts in the 996 and 986 forums dealing with the OBC hack. Most were at least 2 years old and most were dealing with the hack via a switch. However, a few mentioned the stalk conversion. Since I wanted mine to look completely original that is the way I went. So, with the parts list in hand and letting my fingers do the shopping, (how many of you are old enough to get that reference) but by computer instead of phone, I found the cost of the parts had skyrocketed, up to almost 40 bucks for the wiring harness parts alone and I would still end up with a bunch of yellow non original looking wires. Then I came across a reference to "Pdwight" and how he could make the entire harness. One post I read said said his harness was really nice and the buyer would not be disappointed. So I tried to get in touch with Pdwight and after a few tries I found his current email. I ordered the harness and it is fantastic!! It looks and fits just like an OEM harness. So if anyone wants to do the OBC hack I would definitely buy the stalk used and get the harness made by pdwight for only a few bucks more than I could make it myself. Hi Everyone, New to the site, new to the car - 1999 996 Cab, 8 way power seats both sides. I searched thru the threads and didn't find what I need so I need your help. After extensive troubleshooting, it seems my fore and aft power seat motor has gone sneakers up. So I don't have to cut any wires, I want to remove the old motors' wires from the connector underneath the seat (see pics) and then insert the new motors' wires cleanly. Can anyone point me to the correct tool to remove the wires from the connector? Thanks in advance PS - Although they are not extremely expensive - Anyone have one they are not using - P/N 99662432200?
