  1. I visited my local convertible top specialist ( AAA in Costa Mesa, CA ). The little thin rope would not retract under the top when closing. He told me that it can be replaced and to make an appointment. In addition, I inquired about the life span of a typical canvas top. The 987 -1 is a 2006 model, kept on the garage and. generally protected from the elements. He suggested that it has about a year left despite looking OK, but not new. Anyone have insight into the canvas top life span ? Just curious........
  2. I just had mine tested: The tech tested the two connectors next to the antenna amplifier with the radio switched using a grounded test light. One connector lit the test light; the second connector caused the speaker to vibrate. After reconnecting, both AM and FM were good. Hope this helps.
  3. I finally had the PCCM+ installed at Rocco’s in Costa Mesa. Glad I didn’t try doing it myself. The PO had made some mods that would have confused the heck out of me. Now, I need to find a home for the old non-Bose CDR24. Any suggestions will be appreciated; a friend inquired whether it could be installed in a 914
  4. I ended up ordering the PCCM from Suncoast in Fl. Just got notified it’s been shipped. Any tip about opening and sorting through the parts will be appreciated I have watched several uTube videos; these help
  5. The 986 spare worked for me on Christmas Day; one suggestion, have the locking lug socket handy.
  6. Question: is the bulb accessible from the front. Does the plastic lens cover pull off ?
  7. My red alert symbol came on this am. The message said lower left front light… I tapped the lense and the bulb came alive and the red warning light went out. How would I get to that bulb if I need to replace it ? ( 2006 987)
  8. That part doesn’t look like the one I have. Mine is for a ‘06 987 plastic , and knob shaped
  9. I need a part number for the small plastic knob-like speed nuts issued to hold the covering over the tail lights- inside the trunk. They spin onto a 5mm threaded stud
  10. Thanks. I'll do a bench test after the PCCM is installed. Should be able to tell.
  11. Thank you. Suppose I want to install the CDR24 into my 914. Will it work ? BYW, it’s not BOSE
  12. Does the CDR 24 require a code to reset ? I’ve had the battery disconnected several times and the radio was ok. if I sell them radio, will it be plug and play ?
