  1. The CDR23 radio in my V6 2006 Cayenne has started giving me problems. The CD player stops, and when the CD I was listening to is ejected it's pretty hot. Just yesterday the CD player stopped, I tried to change tracks, which didn't work, then I tried to eject the CD. I could not eject the CD, The CDR23 wouldn't change from CD to either FM or AM, and PORSCHE kept blinking on the CDR 23 like it does when you start the CDR23. Eventually it stopped, I ejected the CD, and it was hot. I never have problems with the radio (yet)- just the CD player. Has anybody had the same experiences?
  2. Loren- thank you for replying. I did exactly what you stated because those were the directuins in the service manual; but, it also turned the axle with each turn, and didn't make a difference. FYI: I just did the brakes on all for corners and thought that the traveling distance would have gotten shorter- but it was fine to begin with and now only works after depressing the pedal all the way to the floor. I replaced all the rotors, pads, spring kits and bled the brakes and my brakes are working perfectly.
  3. Hi everyone, Can someone please give me a good source for the Motive pressure bleeder (with a good price)? I see that there are several models- can someone tell me the proper part number for use with my 2006 V6 Cayenne? Can the flush/change be done without the Motive pressure bleeder the old fashioned way- if I get my wife to sit and pump the brakes? If so, how long would you estimate that it will take to do each brake manually vs. the Motive pressure bleeder? How much fluid will I need to complete the job on my 2006 V6 Cayenne? Thabks for taking the time to answer my questions.
  4. Rowlands- I am in Crtlandt. Putnam Tire is in Cold Spring? What did they charge you per tire for road-force balancing? Where do you get your alignment done, and how much do they charge? Thanks.
  5. V6 has smaller claipers and rotors and calipers- 6 in the front/4 in the rear. 330 mm/ 32 mm rotors on the base Cayenne, 350 mm/34 mm on the new Cayenne S and 368 mm/36 mm on the new Cayenne Turbo. The OEM 18" Turbo wheels will clear the brakes just fine. Moreover, Porsche claims the Cayenne brakes were developed to meet the same rigid anti-fade standards as those on a 911. Why are you looking at change calipers? If the padss are shot slap some Hawk Pads on them abd save the money. You also said in December thhat the lease was almost up-spend the extra $$$ on a new car!
  6. I'm sorry, but worked for a full year, and the svc mgr said it it is supposed to shift automatically with PSM off. Now that they replaced the speed sensor harness, it is working normally again. On p. 223 of the manual it states, "When PSM is switched off, transmission gear changes are done at higher engine speeds." Where in the manal did you find your information? I'd like to read what it has to say, because it contradicts everything I read and have been told.
  7. They had to order and install a new speed sensor harness. Now the car downshifts immediately when I tell it to, and no more failing upshifts. They also did a "hand-over" to reprogram everything. Marco, I do use the paddle shifters w/ PSM off sometimes, but usually I slide the Tiptronic to manual and shift that way (this is my first automatic since 1985).
  8. Was driving on the highway with PSM off, put the pedal to the medal to get by the slow-poke messing up the flow of traffic in the left lane, tranny down shifted to 4th smoothly, and then when it was revving high and tried to up-shift it slipped/stuttered and I had to hit the tiptronic on the steering wheel to make it go to 5th. What is going on??? Yes, my tranny fluid is at the level it is supposed to be, and no I did not have the floorshifter in manual (in case you were going to ask).
  9. That is cute- my kids would love one- just like the Little Tikes car, only much cooler! Too funny!
  10. Put them on my V6 and improved the throttle response. The new exhaust note is cool too- without resonating in the cabin. Look at Youtube for videos.
  11. Agreed. Welding is the best answer and it well protect them from getting stolen. has anyone heard of them being stolen? Yes.
  12. First off the valence i changed to turbo one...it was like 200 from my bodyshop guy its nice to have ins :D...have a hitch....bypass pipe is a bit tinny but not to bad wit hthe tips and intake mine sounds nice :D hoping to do exhaust soon idk what i can do though...ideas? Marco I saw that you changed the front end, but is the rear bumper stock? An EVO intake would be cool, but nobody makes one for the V6. BobbySpeed
  13. Hey Marco, I like the turbo tips! Did you have to change your rear bumper/valance, or did they fit in the stock rear. Do you have a hitch? I also heard that the bypass pipes sound tinny and rattly on a V6, what do you think? Thanks! BobbySpeed
  14. Actually, I spoke to you about buying those sport design wheels back in June when you were first pricing a set of new wheels, but I liked the look of the 18" turbos and sport technos better so I passed- we were e-mailing each other very late at night. I am in Westchester.
  15. Hey Marco, I see you got those Technos we talked about last June. NOS, huh? I would find some NOS experts and speak to them about it- check with the manufacturers of the kits and see what they say about requirements. 310hp? How? According to the Orton website, the ECU package only gives you up to 15hp extra, and the exhaust might give you another 15hp which would bring you up to 277. BobbySpeed
  16. Directional tires are not a problem. How about the Contis? They are a really good tire. FYI- 15-17k miles is all you will get anyway. Also, there are plenty of people without problems with their Pirellis. If your car is a daily driver you will only have them for about a year anyway- start with the Contis, next try the Perellis . . .
  17. Yoko Geo is what Mudman means- Geolander. Both the Geo and Advan ST are directional, the Michelins are not. I have heard alot of bad things from many friends about Yoko tires- cupping, flat spots, and issues with road force balancing. I have the Bridgestone Turanzas and had the Continentals- love them both, but that's my opinion.
  18. Okay, I was in a bit of a rush when I bought my car, and I should have rented something for a few weeks so I could look around and get absolutely and exactly what I wanted, but I foolishly didn't. I have the standard rearview mirror and want to replace it with the self-dimming/anti-dazzle mirror rear view mirror. Can it be done? Has anyone actually done this?
  19. I remember when he got it about 10 months ago- he went on and on about how much better it is: more reliable, higher resale, faster, more advanced, etc. That Benz dealer really did his job well because he bought it- to the tune of $115K or so. We both know that a Benz is a stautus car, but the guys I see driving them in Westchester County (metro-NYC suburb) think they are boy racers in their SL, SLK, CLK, and MLs.
  20. My first car was a '74 911T and now I'm a Cayenne owner, but I my wife is driving my Cayenne while her Audi is geting some scratches fixed, and I've been driving my brothers $115K '06 SL 500. I am proud to say (as a Porsche owner) that in a fast race down the parkway with a black 996 I was reminded what it means to be a Porsche guy. The car was in sport mode, and I had the pedal to the metal. If only my brother was there, it would have been fun to see him cry!
