  1. My coworker got a loaner 991 Black Edition coupe. Similar to the car you are looking, with black paint and seats, except it had sport chrono (which can be retrofitted for $900). It was a very nice vehicle and more than fast enough for use on public roads. You will be VERY happy with this given your auto ownership history . This is basically a no-risk purchase. Either you get a screaming deal on a car that you love or sell it and a nice make profit. You could drive this thing for a year and come out ahead. Not many people get the opportunity to get paid to drive a 911! If I could buy a perfectly good 991 for $40K wouldn't think twice. Another option is make the trade then sell it, put that money towards a 997.2 GTS. They were well-equipped and have 408 HP. Gotta remember the "base" 991 is more powerful than a 997.1 Carrera S while weighing less. That said if you get in a loaded 991 GTS/GT3/Turbo & drive it all day/week/month and then get in a lightly-optioned Carrera you will probably be disappointed. Opposite situation if you come from a base 997.1. It's all relative! Most auto journalists are jaded as are some forum-goers. Check out these videos:) it's not a BMW 320i vs M4 situation.
  2. (Not associated with this car in any way, shape or form) Gotta share this. If I could I would totally get this for a daily. It is a Targa 4S mis-marketing as a Carrera! $52K, 60K miles. MSRP $134K (Not this example) http://www.cerritoslexus.com/VehicleDetails/used-2010-Porsche-911-2dr_Targa_4S-Cerritos-CA/2845122073 Porsche 2010 Porsche Targa 4SVIN: WP0BB2A98AS733091 MSRP: $133,845.00 Exterior: Nordic Gold Metallic Interior: Black Full Leather Warranty Start: December 29, 2009 Additional Equipment 176 Sports Exhaust System 250 Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) 267 Self Dimming Mirrors 342 Heated Front Seats 345 Heated Steering Wheel 404 19" Turbo Wheel 425 Rear Window Wiper 541 Seat Ventilation 603 Dynamic Cornering Lights 619 Bluetooth Phone Interface 640 Sport Chrono Package Plus 672 Navigation Module for PCM 680 Bose High End Sound Package 740 Show Finish 810 Floor Mats in Interior Color 870 Universal Audio Interface 8W Nordic Gold Metallic AT Black Full Leather CGA Headlight Cleaner Cvr Ext.Clr DAN Exterior Package in Ext Color P15 Pwr Comfort Seats w/Driver Mem XAJ Side Skirts in Exterior Color XME Rear Ctr Cons Painted Extr Clr XMP Lthr Sun Visors Lighted Mirror XRP 5mm Wheel Spacers.
  3. Possible they switched from miles to kilometers? Or that it was just left in someone's garage and taken around the block every now and then to keep it in top shape? Call me racist or whatever but doubt a GT3 is being used often on the roads of Mexico.
  4. Here is a better option: You can buy a Pioneer head unit for around $1,500 installed that has Apple CarPlay and most of the features a 991.2 will have. https://youtu.be/kzUFRM9McHg
  5. Yep! Falling in love with the Carrera 4S - that butt! Frankly I'd be happy with any color except Speed Yellow or Guards Red. PRG, Macadamia or white are my preference but there are many months before I make the jump.
  6. lol. Learning slowly I'll have to settle on something in grey or white. Also a fan of the racing green but that appears to have been 2009 only. Glad wraps exist.
  7. My next vehicle is to be a 997.2. Currently I drive Mk6 & Mk7 GTIs. They are APR stage 1 (stage 1 Mk7 = 300 HP/335 torque; Mk6 = 260 HP, 290 TQ) & DSG gearboxes in both . How common are Macadamia Metallic cars? Starting my search of knowledge on how to buy a nice 997.2 over the next 6-12 months (Nashville TN, 30 years old, work in healthcare consulting, recovering fan of American cars pre-2012...)
