  1. hey Johnny, I've owned my 81' SC since 1985 and been driving it since 1995(dad shipped the car from the U.K to Malaysia where i'm from). Had a similar problem 3 years back.Turns out the air mixture was not right as there was a leak in the 'airbox' and had to have it replaced at a huge cost! But why don't you also take a look at the mixture control unit near the fuel distributor, there could be a leak there too. Also the idle speed should be 900+/- 50 rpm when the engine is at operating temp and CO2 levels for pre 79' cars are 1.5 to 3.5%. But anyways try to check these out if you already haven't and good luck. Dev
  2. Greetings to all, Am very new to forums,so bear with me! Owned 1981 911SC since 1985 and imported from U.K into Malaysia. Took over from dad 9 years ago. Car has nasty oil leak where oil leaking onto heat exchangers causing severe smoking thro oil burning.looked underneath and seems to be coming from middle of engine and NOT oil sump as suspected! I think the crankshaft oilseal is culprit. Can anyone out there comfirm if you've had similar problems and what's solution? The obvious answer is to drop the engine and replace oil seal but will i get heart attack and find bigger leak?! Dev.
