  1. The passenger side tension cable of my 03 C2 cabrio is broken. The top part of the cable ends on a spring that attaches to the top of the roof (over passenger window). Anyone knows if there is a part # for the cable and/or spring?
  2. I ended up fixing the problem myself. After carefully dissamblying the top part of the roof I reached the point where the steel cable is attached and realised the end was broken.
  3. After some further investigation, I suspect the cable the runs across the roof lining has become loose from the top end. I couldn't find a way to get to it though because is seems like I need to free the fabric part of the top and I wasn't sure I could put everything back together. I guess I am off to a Porsche dealer to get this fixed. <_<
  4. I have a similar problem. I noticed though that the steel cable victor is referring to is a bit looser on the side that has the problem. Is there any adjustment I can do, or is it a matter of replacing the cable altogether? If so, is it a DIY job or do I have to visit my local Porsche dealer?
  5. I agree with J-rad that an email to Strosek will probably clear things up. I think what people are saying here (including me) is that front and rear aero kit components have to be installed as a set. This applies to Porsche aero-kit rear spoiler and front bumper only. If Strosek have developed their own set perhaps it is just fine to leave it as is.
  6. I think the aero kit installation instructions mention this problem. The customer can install the side skirts alone, but if they go for the rear spoiler they have to install the front aero bumper as well. Porsche will not install the rear spoiler alone. I would talk to a porsche dealer about alternative ways to fix this problem (install aero bumber, perhaps just the splitters, or remove the rear spoiler).
  7. In my opinion, installing a nitrous kit on a 911 means you have completely missed the point of what the 911 stands for.
  8. I couldn't agree more with you - as long as the name and contact info of the person posting (you in this case) is known to the forum owner so he can disclose it in case it is required. This is the beauty of the internet and a very good reason for every professional to act responsibly.
  9. Why go for the expensive Porsche LSD and not a quaife aftermarket diff which I am sure is a much better LSD. Have a look at http://www.quaife.co.uk. My experience from a quaife on a Z4 BMW is 100% positive!
  10. RJN is correct to say that the advertised disc is PCM1. The 996 started with PCM1. MY03 (and later) 996s got PCM2. As far as I know the two systems are not compatible at all and cannot share maps. So I think, after a lot of research, the only hope is for Porsche to release new maps in PCM2 (v3) format.
  11. Thank you Loren for your reply :D . If this is the case then I guess I can replace the oil pressure sensor (since it is inexpensive) and make sure the coolant tank cap closes properly and re-evaluate the symptoms. The leak I was referring to is absolutely minimal (go from a-little-below-max to min in two months) and I am almost certain it is from the cap.
  12. Is symptom #1 normal for the 996? Can you think of any other reason why the coolant system would maintain higher pressure even when cold?
  13. Symptom #1 My MY03 996 cabriolet has been leaking a very small amount of coolant (I think) from the cap even though it is the newer part. I haven't had a chance to clean it properly and make sure it "clicks" when closed. Today, I opened the cap to clean it and noticed pressure being released. Not too much, but noticeable. Symptom #2 During the past 2 months the on-board computer has reported an Oil Pressure Sensor Failure twice. The error went away both times after I switched the car off and on so I didn't pay too much attention. Today, whilst driving I noticed that the oil pressure during acceleration was at "5" and during idle at 3.5. It seemed as if pressure was higher than normal. Then, after accelerating hard (maybe relevant?) I noticed the oil pressure was back to normal, with idle pressure at 2-2.1 and 4.5 whilst accelerating. The two symptoms got me a little bit worried. Am I being paranoid?
  14. Navteq will not sell maps for MY03 PCM2. They say "go to your Porsche dealer" instead. Porsche is not even listed when Greece is selected -_-
  15. That's my problem too! The guys here in Athens have no idea. PLEASE, if someone can ask their local Porsche dealer what the part number is for the latest set of maps for Europe all of us Greeks would greatly appreciate it!!
  16. Michali , they told me that same thing 8 months ago and still nothing... I would be very surprised if the finally produced a CD version that includes Greece but i am no longer counting on that. My brother and i fitted an OEM Navigation unit on my brothers Golf GTi with an OEM European DVD that includes Greece but i have to say that has very small coverage... I think it will take years before we get a dissent map for this country... If you are in Athens this weekend i will phone you to arrange a meeting! Nikos. Niko, there are very good maps for Athens. My old BMW had excellent coverage for Athens and other major cities, and I know for a fact that handheld GPS devices also offer excellent maps. It it a matter of time before Porsche comes up with up-2-date maps, the only question is whether they will release them in CD or DVD-only. (I will be in Athens, expecting your call :D ) Which version are you referring to? I thought the latest CD maps for Europe are the 08/2005. Do you know of a later set? Thanks, Michael
  17. Apologies! I always thought that the switchless installation did connect to the speed sensor, but now that you mention it I am not sure why I had that impression.
  18. Latest news from Porsche Greece is that a new map is expected soon (both CD and DVD versions!) that will have much better coverage. I personally doubt they will produce a new CD version, but I will be very very happy if they do.
  19. 226 is a mystery code. No matter how hard I've looked I haven't found what it is. Regarding the PSE, I've seen installations without the switch. In this case the PSE cuts off at 50km/h and comes back at 70km/h. If you have the switch then you can have it off all the time, regardless of speed.
  20. All my soft-tops (including the MY03 996) leaked from the same location. It never really bothered me enough to fix it, but I think the solution is to replace the rubber shield (the part attached to the soft-top). Is this problem persistent?
  21. This is the second time I see this behaviour from my 03 996 and I am a bit worried it will get worse. The problem is that without any top activity (open or close) the top warning light comes as well as a warning saying the top is not in the closed position (or something similar). The top switch is not functioning (open or close) and if you do the mistake to lower the rear windows (which I did! <_< ) they don't come back up. The solution so far has been to stop the car and use the key to remotely open the top. Then everything works again ... until the next time! Any ideas what might be wrong? I suspect the sensor that detects the top position but I have no idea where it is located. Also, if this is the problem, shouldn't it block key operation as well?
  22. Installation of the 3rd break light was very very easy and I think the end result looks great. Here are some pics: This is a good value visual upgrade I highly recommend!
  23. I have no knowledge of the specific system, but I am 99% sure that the S/W has no way of knowing whether the problem is still there. It will erase the fault, and if the problem still exists you will get a brand new fault appearing.
  24. I just got my order from carnewal. I went for the smoked version - I will post pictures tomorrow after I install them.
