  1. I just did a spark plug and coil pack change over the weekend, so I will add my 2 cents. Remove the mufflers. Remove the mufflers. Did I mention remove the mufflers. They are so easy to take off and provide so much more space to work. It made the front and rear plugs so easy to change it was a joke. The middle plug on each side was harder. The muffler bracket blocks easy access. I had to feed the extension at an angle around the bracket and then attach it to the socket, which I had already lined up in the hole. Make sure you connections are secure to your coil packs. I found one that wasn't quite tight. They will "click" once secure, but sometimes you can't tell for sure, so triple check. I didn't use any grease on the plugs and had no issue. The thought of putting grease on plugs freaks me out - probably for no good reason. The job took about 3.5 hrs. Next time could probably do it in 2.5. Remove the mufflers. Good luck! Adam
  2. anyone know the part number off hand. need a backup, just in case it probably will break when changing the coolant tank
  3. So I parked my car the other day and came back to see that there was no coolant in the coolant tank - and some wet spot under the left rear of the car. The tank has had a small leak in the past, but where could it be leaking from to have all of the coolant leak out? I already picked up a new tank in anticipation of fixing, but I hose that may have come loose around the tank. Just want to know what else to look for. Thanks for the help. Adam
  4. I live right in downtown Boston and do DE's at the Glen with Trackmasters. I drive the car there and back, with two days of driving. Not that long of a trip. The Glen is much faster overall that Lime Rock or NHIS. The back straight going into the bus stop is the fastest I have been in my car on a race track. And there are other fast sections. A great track overall. Make sure you have decent brake pads. Stock pads will fade during a 20-30min stint. Good luck. Adam
  5. I run stock wheels and tire sizes. I run on PS2s right now. Great tire. I have found that on the first morning run i start at 32 front and 35 rear. If it is a cool day, I usually keep close to that pressure. If it gets hot out, I end up taking some out at the day goes on. It does depend on the track and the weather - sunny or overcast. I try and run my tires so they come off the track at about 37 - 40. Much higher than some of the R compounds run. But the tires wear very well and stick. I am on my 16th day on my stock PS2's and they still look good. I will probably get 5 more days out of them. Good luck. Adam
  6. Does anyone have installation instructions for GT3 sway bars and drop links? I just got mine, and haven't looked at the car yet. It may be simple, but is there anything I need to know before I start taking off the current bars and links. I have a ROW M030 on my 99 C2. Thanks for the help in advance. Adam
  7. once the suspension settles for a few weeks or so, you should see more of a difference. When my ROW M030 was installed, it took a little bit of time, but it now looks a good bit lower than stock. I even scrape my front end now. On the track is where the new suspension will shine. So much more "planted" and less understeer. You will love it.
  8. I want to remove the CD holder in my lower center console and replace it with another storage cubby. Does it unscrew or just pop out? Thanks for the help. Adam
  9. I am ordering the ROW M030 suspension and wanted to know if it came with the rear bumpstops. I know that the fronts are re-used from the original. Also, would it be a good idea to replace all bump stops when I install. My current suspension has 47K on it. Thanks so much. Adam
  10. I am installing a "small tube" PSE in my 99 996. I am not installing the electronics at this time. Is there anything I need to know to insure that the valves are always in the position to keep the exhaust loud? thanks for the help. Adam

  12. I am looking to get a PSE for my 99 996. I know that there are earlier versions with the small pipe, and later versions with the large pipe, that both fit my year of car. Question, do I need any specific brackets when installing either on my car. If so, what is the Porsche part number? Is there are any benifits to getting the large pipe over the small pipe? Thanks in advance. Adam

  15. I was washing my car today and saw that the engine was getting a bit dirty and greasy. Any tips on what I should cover before I spray the engine with a mild cleaner? Thanks for the help. Adam
  16. I am looking for a front lip / chin spoiler for my 99 996 w/ a standard front bumper. I haven't had much success in finding many options. Most are not really lips as they wrap up and around the side of the bumper. Are there any simple ones out there that I can add to my 996, which doesn't have any aerodynamic additions on it - I don't want it to stand out from the rest of the car. The only one I found that may look ok w/o any other aerodynamic mods is the one by Cargraphic - see attached. But it wraps around the sides too much. thanks for your help, adam
  17. The humming or whining sound usually is a result of a grounding problem. I would try to move the ground wire to a new spot.

The door speakers are a standard 5.25" (13cm) unit, however it's the depth you've got to worry about (can't remember off hand), you might need to do a little cutting of the plastic surround do get it mounted. I needed to do this when fitting an Infinity unit. Damian <{POST_SNAPBACK}> call Rod Birch www.caraudioinnovations.com specializing in audio upgrades for the Porsche 911 "time spent with a customer is time invested in a friendship" 1-800-892-6430 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I replaced mine with Quart 5.25 subs, they fit the facory hole. Slightly longer screws though. A bit pricey but sound good. Search internet for best price. Hope you find what you are looking for. jorge <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Jorge, did you run the 5.25 Quarts with the standard amp or did you put in a new amp to drive them? If you put in a new amp I assume you also put in a new head unit. Did the new subs make a difference?
  19. I am new to the 996 world (and the Porsche world, for that matter) and would love a more aggressive sound out of my 1999 996. I have been researching cold air intakes as a cheep alternative to installing a new exhaust (but w/o the power gains). For those of you out there that have a cold air intake, or modified yours, does it really change the sound that much? I am not too worried about spending the $225 (fabspeed) - I just would like a more aggressive sound if I do. Also, anyone seen a difference using the BMC air filter along with it? Thanks for all the help. Adam
