  1. No, I never figured it out, and never heard from anyone about it. I ended up getting a motor and cable for the passenger side window from Woody, put it in, and it has been fine. And now I'm not sure of my theory about removing those pins to make up for slack, but maybe I should test it out: the cable on my driver's side window appears to have stretched enough that the window hardly drops at all when you lift the handle when the top is up. The plan was to install a bike cable barrel adjuster to shorten the effective length of the cable, but maybe I will try the cotter pin idea first. Thanks for the reminder!
  2. The window on my 99 Boxster was crunching and grinding, as the regulator cable shredded itself. Took the regulator apart to see how it works, and saw that every part of the regulator was fine, except the cable. I trimmed the frayed ends and put it all back in, and it works fine, for now, but I should replace it, as the cable is at 2/3rds strength and more prone to shredding if I missed a strand here or there. Shame to spend $270-$300 for a new regulator to replace a $20 or $30 cable, and I'm reluctant to buy a used one online... Waiting to see if Woody on the 986 forum has a good used one for me. I see just now there is a cable replacement in the UK for $50+US... Can anybody explain what these cotter pins are about, next tot he motor? Can you pull them out, one by one, to adjust the tension as the cable stretches? Just guessing...
  3. DISREGARD! The problem resolved itself. I took a 30 minute drive, and it persisted, then the car sat an hour, and after a 20 minute drive it was ready to take the handwritten frunk code. Since 48/98 wasn't the code, can anybody tell me what that and the other bits of information on the display were? 48/98 GAL: 00 AUX OFF CDP2081
  4. Thanks. But I drove the car another 70 or 80 minutes (after posting) and the WAIT never went away. Do I do something to override it? TIA.
  5. I have a 99 Boxster base model. I had to disconnect the battery so I did the trick to find the code- -Turn off radio. -Hold down the TP button for at least 10 seconds. -Turn the radio on. "Becker 1" will be displayed.- -Rotate the right knob slowly, as it will display the Becker model number. -Rotate again and radio serial number will display on radio display.took pictures Going through the cycle with the right knob, it showed me: BECKER 1 TYPE 4462 SER: X5021117 48/98 GAL: 00 AUX OFF CDP2081 After reconnecting the battery, I turned on the radio and it told me to enter the code, so I entered 4898. Then the readout said WAIT and still does, after leaving it for 10 minutes, driving it, turning it off and on again, etc. Then I looked under the frunk and saw handwritten on the paper sticker "Radio 5430." Couldn't figure out how to re-enter a code, so I disconnected the battery for half an hour, and when I reconnected the battery, the readout still says WAIT. Do I keep waiting, and till what? If I can override with the new code, how do I do that? Thanks!
