  1. Chanaged mine out last year, needed to run engine at various speeds and various intervals to accustom new sensors to engine and computer. This actually took a few weeks and was very frustrating, reset cel many times to finally achieve mating. Really no shortcut, just need to run engine in city and a little country driving. Eventually codes are reduced and finally go away.
  2. I went to the Porsche dealership in Monterey and was told over the phone it would be $50 to retrieve code. When I arrived the service manager got info from radio and hooked me up with the code at no charge! He's been really helpful on the occasions I've needed help, such as the time I needed my locking lugs removed, he got out the Porsche case o' lugs and found the correct key and removed all of the locks, again for free! Give your local service guy a call and feel him out as far as what he will and won't do as a service to Porsche owners.
  3. Recently purchased 99 Boxster, with advice from import mechanic friends. They say Porsche engines are pretty much bulletproof as long as they are maintaned properly. Other exotics such as Lamborghini and Ferrari are all fine and good, from what I'm told, but are true exotics in the sense that they are'nt really daily drivers and a major pain in the *** to maintain. Plus they tend to cost a fortune. My Porsche is a great drive, very responsive and great in corners, plus incredible braking abilities. Dollar for dollar, Boxsters are a much better deal than the high end Italians taken out on weekends and babied. They look fantastic but for normal working folk, Porsche is the way to go. Good luck. Plus you can actually perform maintenance on your Porsche with just mostly basic metric tools and quality replacement parts. Changed out my serpentine belt and oil and filter in about an hour.
  4. XMs' add on unit is very easy to install using cassette player or using integrated remote that runs' through you FM radio on various stations not picking up current FM broadcasts, such as in my area 88.3. It comes with a receiver holder that attaches easily to your air vents, or you can velcro it to any vertical surface. Routing the antenna cable is easy as is the power connect (cigarette lighter). Using the FM modulator option eliminates the cassette adapter and it's wire. The sound quality and commercial free stations are choice. Hope this helps, Al.
