  1. I got a black top with glass window from Cabrio World for $775. Glass window makes a ton of difference and is worth the extra money. Material looks the same as OEM. Install was about $500 and took less than 1 day(at a shop ).
  2. One last question....does it matter which side of this connecter I tap into?
  3. What will happen if I tap into the white wire on the pasenger side bundle of wires? ( where the clip is on pre MY02)
  4. I was going to install my Litronic control module, but something doesn't look right. When looking at the instructions on Pelican parts it shows a big black wiring clip on the inside left fender(passenger). The white wire from control module attaches here. On my car this big clip is not there, just a bundle of wires. ( from the headlight to somewhere.....) I see a big white wiring clip on the far right hand corner behind the brake reservoir. Is this the clip I need to attach the white wire too?
  5. Hey guys, I have been trying to adjust the aim on my Litronics but can't seem to get it right. I adjusted the beam up all the way to it s max point ( housing became very loose inside ) and it still only aimmed the light up about 2 inches. When parked 7.5m (per the book) the light just does touch the bottom of the wall. :( When adjusted back to the "0" hash mark( housing became firm again ) it does not touch the wall. Am I doing something wrong? I have yet to hook up the low/high control module. Could that be causing my problem? I never had it hooked up on my old set up. :censored:
  6. Thanks for the feedback. I have already checked and it is an HID bulb. The ballast is intact and was very hot when I removed the headlamp assembly ( so I know it works ). Last night the beam looked more blue/white than in the pic I posted. Last night I happened to see another Boxster with Litronics and they looked more purple. I could tell my headlights lit up more of the road than the cars next too me at a red light. I think the kelvin rating of my bulbs are too low. I plan too buy high rated ones today.
  7. Here is a picture of my new Litronics. Don't look so Litronic too me. :(
  8. New calipers and hubs are not needed. Click on the ultra long link below :P http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Drilled-Zim...sspagenameZWDVW
  9. Purchased both assemblies complete from a distributor. Low beam is a HID bulb and ballast are intact. I know they are not halogens, but they dont look as good as my old litronics. :(
  10. Just had a new pair of litronics installed and they seem yellow. My old ones were a nice white/purple. Do they require a few hours of use? I know the aim is off because they only light up about 10-12 feet in front of the car. I will aim them using instructions in the manual, but does the dealer do anything special that I can't do? Also I notice 2 stray beams of light that aim high into the night, but when parked 5 feet from a wall the cut off looked normal. Is this normal? I'll try to take a picture tonight just in case this made no sense. <_<
  11. Several manuf. make cross drilled rotors for the standard Boxster ( non S ). Those are a simple swap. They are not as big in diameter as the "S'' rotors, but they still look good. I noticed no difference in stopping power, but the Boxster stops great anyways so who cares. It's all cosmetic. :)
  12. A new Boxster top with glass is $775 at Cabrio World and $1K at GAHH. Intall is about $500. The glass window makes a world of difference. My insuarance paid so much for the top, I didnt have to put any money out of pocket. OEM is about $2500 + labor.
  13. You insuarnce will cover it. I had my top cut a few weeks ago and insurance paid for it. I got the upgraded top with glass window
  14. Using the 8000K Piaa will give a white/purple tint, but will look dim compared to the factory xenon.Closes you will get to factory HID is to use an HID conversion kit. Probably 6000K is the closes to factory hue. Should not be too hard to convert since it is basically the same as converting an H7 low beam. Only difficulty I see is mounting the ballast in the trunk or front fender/bumper area. I've seen the Ebay lights, sold as "Premium Xenon", they are close to factory hue , but are so dim you will see no additional lighting on the road. I would not buy them.
  15. I would rather use PIAA H7 as it would be a simple install and look really good against the Xenon. . :D http://www.piaa.com/Bulbs/Bulbs-H7.html
  16. Anyone know the Porsche part# for the front and rear brake pad vibration dampers for an 02 Boxster (non s) ?
  17. Yes, I did a search, but nothing answered my question. I want to lower my car about 1.5 in., but I'm afraid it will ruin my suspension. I know lowering a car changes all the suspension geometry and I dont think it can be corrected. My last car ( Mercedes 280 ) was lowered 2 in. and all I had was problems. Suspension was ruined and I wore through tires every 4-6 months. Alignment could never be brought close to factory. I think it had -4.5 degrees in back and -2.5 in front. Did Porsche do a better job in suspension design, because I don't want the same problems I had with Mercedes. :help:
  18. Sorry to hear about your horrible experience. I will be replacing the top with a glass version from GAHH in N. Hollywood, Ca. Anybody use them before? Also the dealer quote for stock halogens was so high, I will be able to replace my stolen Litronics with a new set. :clapping:
  19. Anybody know what dealer or shop sells Litronics (retrofit) the cheapest? Mine were stolen and insuance only wants to replace with halogen since mine were not factory installed.
  20. What is the correct fuse amperage for Litronics? ( retrofit ) :renntech:
  21. McKenna Porsche in So. Cal was at $2551 for the top and $875 labor. I have called GAHH and they were much cheaper. I'm not concerned with cost as insurance will pay for it, im just concerned about them trying to nickel and dime me. :(
  22. On Sunday my car was broken into and they put a 7 inch slash on the driver side of the top. The insurance adjuster will be out tomorrow to look at it and see what it will cost to fix. 2 dealers here in California quoted $3426 and $3585. Thats for the canvas and labor. While speaking with my insuarnce rep., she suggested that sometimes the top can be sewn together. Is this true? I don't want my car looking like Frankenstein. I will defenitly push for a replacement top. Anybody have this kind of problem before? ;)
  23. Car is a tiptronic with 71K. Everything is original except the water pump. If the sensor heater is bad, shouldn't the CEL stay on?
  24. Loren, thanks for the detailed response :D This morning I started the car and the CEL stayed on as expedted. I drove half a mile and to my luck the CEL turned off!!! :clapping: Started the car several more times today and it always turns off with the other warning lights (so I know the bulb is good). What could be going on?
  25. Yesterday my CEL came on for the first time ;) I got code P1115. After research here I see it is a bad O2 sensor after the cat. conv. Do I need to change all the O2 sensors, or just the bad one? Also, how long can I go before I fix it? I was hoping a week would not hurt. One last thing, minutes before the CEL came on I had the GPS removed and some stereo wiring fixed, could that have anything to do with the CEL (wire not grounded, bad connection, etc..)? Thanks :drive:
