  1. All, 03 C4S with 58k. After getting lumpy idle and P0022 and pulling the Bank 2 Solenoid for the variable cam timing, I am testing on the bench. I used some mild solvent and now can actuate it with a 12V supply. It moves and I can see ports in the valve body. However, they look as if they are not fully opening in spite of a good activation feel when the solenoid pops. (NOTE: D/S Bank 1 solenoid can be pulled with minimal work, P/S bank 2 requires removing bumper cover, hear shields, (both) and muffler in order to access the screws.) Anyone know the correct stroke of the valve ? I have a new one in bounds (returnable) but I am trying to learn a bit more about the system and determine if this solenoid is faulty or if the problem lies deeper. Thanks David
  2. Many thanks. I had a look last night and the passenger side one cannot be removed without removing the exhaust but drivers side is no problems. I am assuming the variable timing solenoid first ? David
  3. Hello all, I recently replaced the battery and took car for a long ride. Performance was normal and strong as expected. Got home and idle seemed rough. I thought perhaps DME not adapted after battery removed for a while. Now I have codes. Initially I got P1325 with some misfire codes. Cleared those and tried again and now the persistent code is P0022 Camshaft Position actuator A - Bank 2. Timing over retarded. I am hoping its the solenoid. As its an 03 , the solenoid is removeable without removing valve /cam covers. Any have experience of this ? Is is the one furthest outboard when looking at the valve cover ? There are two, one outboard and a second between the coil packs ? Any and all input valued, Thanks ! David
