  1. Okay, looking good. I am right now upgrading from the M490 to the M680 which is a DSP amplifier. In my case I just have to cut away the key tabs. The large connector is used to connect the speakers and power to the amplifier. Will post you some wiring diagrams ASAP.
  2. Hey ZX7R. Very good and precise description. Mine where the short version of all that :P Drive safe but fast... :drive:
  3. It is all normal. The battery will need a high charge just after engine start, and will then drop down between 13 and 13.7 volt. The visible slow movements can be from when turning on/off heavy electrical loads (light, seat heater or rear window heater). As long as you don´t se below 12.8 and above I would say 14.5 you don´t need to worry. Drive safe ;-)
  4. Could you post a picture of the large connector which does not fit. please from all angels. Then I might be able to help you.
  5. hmm, I have the 3 button key for my 996 MY2001 cab. It works perfect and I still enjoy seeing peoples faces when they look at the car and I without they seeing me pressing the cab top open/close. My guess would be that it is some kind of law in the US as Henry V says that prevent it. Solution to problem...................move to Europe, here you can also drive much faster. :P :drive:
  6. I have the key remote system on my MY2001 cab. From there I can open the front luggage compartment and open/close the convertible top........plus open/close the car ;-) My guess would be that you would just need a new set of keys and then they need to hook up their computer to the car to enable the option.
  7. Okay. Here is the result. http://www3.us.porsche.com/isapi/english/u...kat=Performance The link as you can see comes from Porsche Tequipment. As you can all see, this is actually how they make the PSE for the 3.4 liter 996.. Now we can just pray for that it is not done with a hammer :notworthy: End of story........ <_<
  8. Nope, I just don´t get it why they would make something like that. Will wait and see what Porsche tells me.
  9. That could be an idea........but right now I need them to accept that they have made a huge F***UP......and replace them. Just found these mufflers on Ebay  How can people try to sell this
  10. would ANYboby have some pictures of the the old PSE system from that time where the mufflers are not hammered like mine. Just so I can see and prove what it is surposed to look like. Thanks in advance,
  11. YEP, But don´t come and tell that they are surposed to look like this. I would like to see the workshop manual that describes that you need to find the biggest hammer in the shop and start hammering on the muffler until everything fits.
  12. Welcome to the forum. Sorry but I can´t help you with your question. Hope somebody else will assist you soon. Would just say welcome to Renntech.
  13. Okay, whent to Porsche in Denmark so they could take a closer look at the PSE mufflers. Here are some pictures of what they found, :soapbox:  Well this job is NOT done by the good shop in Denmark (which now try to help me), but is done by the german Porsche dealer where i bought the car from. The car is bought with PSE and they installed (I paided) the bypass switch before I got the car 8 month ago. The story is to be continued............
  14. On a 99 model there is no E-gas, so it is some kind of mechanical adjustment which should be made...I whould think that you should be able to make the adjustment at the throttle house.
  15. Hey, I can see there have been some writing about how to do the DSP upgrade. I have just bought a used DSP amp. from another guy here on Renntech. After having been into the wiring diagrams and looking at the wires installed in my car, the conclusion so far is. If you already have the soundpacket installed you will have an amplifier in the front named M490 the DSP amp. unit is called M680. To the DSP unit there are 2 connectors one 18 pol and one 20 pol connector. The 20 pol connector is for connections from the amp to the 6 speakers plus powersupply to the DSP unit. That connector is equal to the M490 amp. units 20 pol connector.....BUT it will not fit due to 3 plastic fittings which you will need to cut away. (will post some pictures soon). The other 18 pol connector is for all the signals going in to the amp unit. But the difference here is that you on the DSP unit have a DSP-DATA pin 17 that needs to go to the info /navi system connector 2 (blue 26 pins) pin 14. Plus there is a DSP-GND pin 1 which goes to PIN 6 on the same connector 2 on the infosystem. ALL this is ONLY if you have the Navisystem installed, if not you will need another DSP receiver M680-662 and then there is some additional wiring. Now I just need to find out how to do the wiring from the new amp. to the infosystem. Will post some pictures later, plus futher info. :drive:
  16. It is the same system that is mounted to your wife or girlfriend........slam her and you will get the horn :D
  17. Porsche sells some polish cream which is made for the rear plastic window, works super.
  18. That should be pretty easy as I see it.
  19. Okay, whent to Porsche today. The plan right now is to tighten everything and see if that changes anything. If not they will try to see if it is possible that Porsche will eat the bill for 2 new mufflers, as I said to them....3 years driving and 60000 Km with a PSE can´t be normal for a stainless steal muffler.
  20. So sad to hear, could you post some pictures of the car from inside and outside ? That could maybe give us an idea how bad it is.
  21. Hey, My left muffler has started to rattle when Engine is idle, If I just take the AC pump off and the engine then drops 200 RPM it stops. Even when I give it a little throttle it goes away.....But the rattle at idle drives me nuts. :cursing: Porsche has tried to look at it and says it might be something that is loose inside the muffler, which leave me to "buy a new muffler" I know there is a TSB about putting a 3.6 Liter PSE muffler on a car with 3.4 liter engine, but can I still get the 3.4 Liter muffler ? or do I then have to buy 2 new mufflers then ? Porsche did not take the bumper off to check the rattle, they did not even lift the car up. But is there ANY tips on what to do, or to even check if they are right about that it is something loose inside the muffler ? can I tighten any bolts or what ? Just for info I have the bypass switch installed. Does any of you maybe have a used left PSE muffler I can buy. Please help. :drive:
  22. Well I don´t know about the code......but your engine just got smaller, used to be a 3.4 as far as I know. Maby just call a Porsche shop and ask. Loren ??
  23. Need to see what type of oil I can put in my MY2001 996. Can´t read the TSB 1701 I think it is. Any help ?
