  1. Haven’t looked into it yet. I’ve had alot going on. I will for sure let you know when I figure it out though.
  2. Well its worth a shot. Ill look into it and post back.
  3. You tightened up a spark plug and the ticking went away?
  4. You tightened up a spark plug and the ticking went away?
  5. You tightened up a spark plug and the ticking went away?
  6. All plugs and coils are tight and brand new. No CEL and the car still drives great.
  7. So going back to the question from the OP, and based on my 996 expierience, I can’t in good conscience confirm its reliability. The 997 is a different case. Ive owned my 997 for roughly 8 years, it also had 1 previous owner and passed its PPI with flying colors. I drive it alot more and in just about the same way. And it has had zero issues besides regular maintanence that all cars require. But the 996 I honestly dont want to even drive anymore just because every time I do Im paranoid that something else will break. It has become a money pit and in my single year of ownership I have had it on the back of a tow truck twice.
  8. PPI showed a zero high rev no upcoming maintanence report. Only thing pisted for repair was a window regulator, brakes and something else very minor.
  9. I bought mine with 40k miles, single owner. It now has about 45k miles and is just falling apart.
  10. Ive had my 996 for just about a year now. So far ive already spent about 5k in repairs, and it still needs more. A few months after purchase both cats and O2 sensors needed to be replaced. Then a few months after that it needed a new AOS. Now just a few weeks ago I needed another bew AOS, RMS, IMS as a preventative measure, engine mounts, coolant lines, ignition coils and spark plugs, and a couple other minor things. Now these past few days Ive had this strange noise coming from the rear. From expierience with other cars it seemed to me like a minor exhaust leak. It turns out its either lifter tick or a piston slapping. Not looking forward to that repair cost at all. But if I had to do it again knowing how sensitive these cars actually are, I dont think I would have purchased a 996. I also own a 997, and I have never had so many issues with it.
  11. I have this ticking noise that increases and decreases with RPM. I was told its a failed cat, that the biscuit inside had become loose and is the cause of the tick. I installed new cats today on both sides and the ticking is still there. Ill try to get a video clip of it. But if anyone has expeirienced this please let me know. I got the car back from a reputable porsche specialist shop on tuesday and after an IMS, RMS, AOS, coils, plugs, engine mounts, and a couple other routine services the car was given a 100% clean bill of health.
  12. I routed my ground wire to the right, under the footwell across to a bolt near the shifter. Its kind of a long way but thats the only metal to metal location I could find.
  13. I have a good relationship with my smog tech. He doesnt do visual inspections or even care. He just hooks up the OBD cable, checks the monitors, prints the reports and gets paid.
  14. So I should be able to use some universal cats and just weld them in with O2 bungs placed down stream
  15. Probably a dumb question, but does it matter if the second O2 sensor is inserted into the cat like OEM or placed after the cat like these soul performance pipes? 16. 02 C2 I pulled: P0300 p0301 P0306 Random multiple cylinder misfire Cylinder 1 misfire Cylinder 6 misfire Also, not sure if its related but I have a very light oil leak. Its a few drops over a couple of weeks that has accumulated to about a 6”x6” spot. I havent driven the car in over a month and last time I did it drove perfect. I was going to finally take it out and I got about 2 blocks before the CEL came on. So I drove it back to the garage and pulled the codes. I didnt feel any loss of power or vibrations that a multiple cylinder misfire would create.
  17. I have been able to locate a hub that will work, and Ive selected which steering wheel ill get, aswell as a custom horn button. I only need instruction with removal of the stock setup and install of the new gear.
  18. Like at CA smog check? Im on good terms with my smog tech. But really I didnt ask what the consequences are of removing airbags etc. I am aware, I only asked what is required to get the job done, if anyone knows the procedure and to provide some assistance if possible.
  19. Very nice setup. I find hub adapters for almost all cars, but for the 996 I am not sure which will work. I even find kits that include resistors for keeping the srs light off, and the wiring for the horn button. I even found a guy that makes custom horn buttons.
  20. Dont all modern cars have airbags in the wheel? I dont mind losing it, in fact I prefer it.
  21. I would like to install a momo wheel, but havent been able to find detailed instructions on how to get it done, or which adapter kit is needed. I contacted momo directly several months ago and never received a reply. If anyone is able to provide detailed instructions on how its done, aswell as a PN or inventory photo of which adapter kit is used I would appreciate it. I would rather not extend the wheel too much farther towards the seat if possible, so if some sort of short adapter exists that would be ideal, and also to retain horn function and keep the srs light off. Somthing like the attached photo is what im looking to achieve.
