  1. Quite funny really, my brother had parked his old rusty ford escort in my drive and had jut reversed out to let me park the box. I drove in, got out the car, noticed a chunk of metal lying on the drive, I burst out laughing and told my bro that he had snapped a spring, upon inspection, cue much glee from my brother as he said, It's not mine !! Looks like it happened when I turned into the drive and clipped the kerb. Not sure if it happened before and the bump loosened the broken part of the spring or it broke when I came into the drive. Didn't have any handling problems previously. Anyway off to Porsche to get a pair of springs - £140. The replacement looks quite complicated, so I'll probably have to get my local indy to do the work. I thought you could just undo the top bolt, drop the strut and fit the spring, but all instruction shows a much more complicated removal procedure.
  2. Thanks guys, will check these threads out tonight. Looks like it could be a job for the weekend! J.
  3. Hi folks, I have a 2.7 boxster year 2000 and yesterday had the misfortune to break one of the front coil springs. Can anyone point me in the direction of a DIY article for replacing the springs. Springs are stock items. Average DIY skills, but any tips on the easiest way to do the task would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim
  4. Thanks Tool Pants, that link was just what I needed. Job done today and difference is noticeable - smoother idle and seems to be more pick up under acceleration. Wife's hairdryer was used to warm up the air duct tube, it certainly eases the task of slipping it onto the throttle body ! This was the first time I'd ventured into the engine compartment, and has eased some of the fears I had, looking forward to doing some more maintenance myself. Thanks again my friend. :renntech: :clapping:
  5. Hi guys, I own a 2000 986 2.7 boxster I'm experiencing a problem with engine reving up and down to about 100-rpm when engine is warm and I pull up at lights etc. Seems to have appeared after I changed the battery, I've followed the intstruction for resetting the throttle, but problem persists Having read through the forums, posible faults could be MAF or dirty throttle body. I intend doing thee tasks myself, found instruction on how to clean the Maf sensor, but cannot find instruction on cleaning the throttle body, anybody point me in the direction of help? Thanks in advance, Jim
  6. Mike, How did you access the hose was it via the lights or removing the wing liner? Same problem with my 986 box. Thanks in advance.
  7. Thanks Loren, I'm in the UK, saw part 304 on ebay and thought I could save some cash - seems not ;-(
  8. Hi again, Can anyone tell me what the following part numbers are and if there are any differences between them? PART# 98663724304 & PART#9866372403 Both are supposed to be remote key heads for 986 Thanks in advance
  9. Thanks Toolpants, Will try my local OPC to see if they will try this for me. Thanks again

  11. Hi, I have a 3 button remote control key body, part no. 986.637.244.17. Will this work with a year 2000 2.7 986 which currently has a 2 button key remote. If not what car is the 3 button remote key suitable for, so I can stick it on ebay. Thanks in advance
