  1. Thanks Loren. I only searched the DIY Articles and neglected to search the discussion forum.
  2. Can anybody point me to a DIY for changing my rotors? I just replaced my brake pads yesterday using the DIY available here, and it was a cinch. Plus, getting the parts for cheap from Sunset Porsche made it all the better. I was going to replace the rotors, but didn't have the right tools. I now know that I need a 10mm hex to remove the calipers. Does anyone have a DIY for changing the rotors in case there is more info that I am missing? E.g., what torque do I need to use to put the calipers back?
  3. Thanks for the info Richard. I was able to get the Check Engine light to go away. I opened my gas cap, and closed it again, making sure it went through several clicks. I then drove for about 15 minutes, and the light went away. I suppose that it's possible the problem just corrected itself or the gas cap wasn't closed tightly enough.
  4. My check engine light came on about a week ago. I finally got a chance to go over to AutoZone to see what was the cause of the check-engine light by using their ODB. The ODB meter showed a P1129 error code and said something about "fuel air metering." After using the ODB meter, I tried opening the gas cap and reclosing it. After about 10 minutes of driving, the check engine light went away. Is the P1129 error code related to the gas cap not being completely closed? Or do I still need to worry about this error code popping up again?
  5. Thanks for all the advice guys. Adjusting the latch, which is attached to the car, worked like a charm.
  6. I only tried adjusting the bracket on the lid. Do you find it necessary to adjust the latch on the car as well? I didn't even realize that was adjustable.
  7. I just installed the aerokit spoiler on my '00 996, and it looks great on the car. The installation went pretty smoothly, except I need to replace the old wiring harness with a new one so my third brake light will work again. I am having trouble with the trunk release now. I can't seem to adjust it so that the trunk pops open on it's own when the trunk release lever is pulled. Someone has to manually pull the trunk open while another person pulls the lever. Does anyone have any advice on how to adjust the latch on the decklid to fix this?
  8. I believe that is standard. If I turn the fan "OFF", it will not stay "OFF" indefinitely. I.e., if I take the key out and put it back in, the fan setting will automatically turn back on. I've personally been annoyed by this as well.
  9. Thanks for the info guys. I jacked up my car last night and got the front right wheel and rear right wheel installed just fine. They fit perfectly. UNFORTUNATELY, while trying to remove the rear left wheel, the porsche wheel lock (key) broke! It actually got bent slightly, and that was enough to prevent it from working. So now I have the new wheels on the right side of my car, and my old wheels on the left side. I'm going to take it to Pacific Porsche today. Hopefully they have a master key.
  10. BTW, here is a picture of my friend's '03 w/ the new wheels.
  11. I am buying the 5 spoke Porsche wheels from my friend. He owns a 2003 C2 (or C4?). He just bought HREs and wanted to get rid of his stock wheels. Before I buy though, I wanted to make sure that they will fit on my 2000 C2. Does anyone know if I will run into any problems?
  12. Hi, I need the part number for the plastic piece which slides on top of the rear seat lever. The lever is used to fold down the rear seat. I have a 2000 C2, and the rear seat (behind the passenger seat) is missing this plastic piece, and just has a thin metal popping up. Thanks, Denis
  13. My 2000 C2 (manual) currently has 30k on it, and I thought it might be a good idea to do some preventative maintenance, such as changing the transmission oil. Is this a good idea, or am I just wasting my money? How easy is it to change the transmission oil on a 996?
  14. The link posted doesn't work. Does anyone else have a DIY for removing the stock spoiler and installing the Aero Cup spoiler? I have a 2000 C2. Thanks, Denis
  15. Loren -- Can you tell me what kind of lubricant I am supposed to use? I saw someone recommend glycerine while looking for a solution on the web. And once I get the lubricant, I assume I just apply is on the inside of the rubber, i.e., in between the rubber and the glass? Thanks, Denis
