  1. Thanks Karl, I managed to get the grills from Porsche in the US (rather hard as they didn't sell directly to Australia but I managed to find a middleman). I provided your instructions to my mechanic but he told me with the airconditioning condensor in front of the radiator he couldn't fit the bumper back on that with the grill on it pushed it out so badly it wouldn't sit nicely. Any ideas? Many thanks, Richard.
  2. I agree. I've had a drive in the new 997 GT3 and have found it much of a delight to drive on the street. But in saying that I do have a few gripes. The 996 GT3 I believe is the last of the hardcore GT3's. The 997 has functions (aided by electronics) which as much as yes you can turn it off I believe defeats the purpose of what the GT3 originally stood for. The outer bodywork looks a treat but is very subjective to the colouring (again personal opinion) and the interior really didn't do it for me (I still like the plain understated interior of my Mk2 GT3) but I did like the colouring of the guages, oh and the headlights, going back to how they should look. Personally yes it's a better car but I believe Porsche always do well in "improving" their models, as always buy the one you can afford and if that happens to be the new model, go for it, you won't regret it.
  3. After a lot of testing it appears there was a dry joint on the PCB of the stereo itself, who would've thought!
  4. Any contacts to purchase these in the US? Been trying to find a contact to purchase and have shipped to Australia but sinking quickly in the depth's of the net unfortunately. Any assistance would be appreciated. Kind regards, Richard.
  5. Hi, I've been lucky to procure a 2004 911 GT3 in Australia a few months ago and had the stereo replaced by a professional installer but am finding when driving the unit is turning off and on. He specifically mentioned he had put a stereo into a GT3 before and accidentally used the speed sense wire which caused this problem and was very careful not to do the same thing with my car so I believe he has taken the power from the cigarette lighter. Would anyone have a wiring diagram available that I can pass onto him? I'm now replacing the stereo as it didn't do what I wanted (iPod connection) so a JVC KD-AVX2 head unit with KS-PD100 iPod adapter has been ordered, I just would like as much information as possible so he will do it right first time (fingers crossed). He'll also be replacing the speakers running off an aftermarket amplifier so I would appreciate where would be the best place for him to get his power from to do this. I'm hoping wiring looms would be pretty much the same for AU as they are in the US. Many thanks in advance. Richard.
