My espresso maker advises not to use distilled water because the sensor operates on the electrical conductivity, and indeed I sometimes have seen it indicate "empy" when full. I throw in a cup of tap water, and hey, presto! it is off and running. Is there a chance Porsche uses a similar sensor?

I have had a 987 base since June 2005, now with 21,000 miles. The only problem I have had is a broken elastic band in the convertible top, and two nails that I mannged to pick up.

I had a problem once when I re-closed the release (i.e. the handle over the mirror) before running the top down. Be sure to just pull the release open then run the motor. If this is not your problem, then no, I don't have it.
