  1. Thank you for your reply...My idle speed is correct...PIWIS reads 710-730rpm...Coolant is clean and level is ok...i have not add coolant for months now...How can i tell about fuel contamination?Engine runs like new...No smoke at all(even at start up)oil was changed every 7500km with mobil1 0-40 and in the meanwhile no more than 800gr of oil was added...I will change oil and filter Monday to check the oil...and to replace it with 10-50...Also when i replaced pressure valve i did no clean the contacts...i ll clean them and check again...After that?Could it be a faulty dash meter? This engine has an oil pan,so i assume oil pump can be removed easily...(not like 996TT engine)Also what about the possibility of failed air/oil seperator?
  2. On this car (C2) in order to change oil pump do you have to remove motor?Or can be done with motor in place?
  3. Well...i measure oil cold(with the dipstick) and find it just below full...when i measure it again hot(after i switch off engine) it is a little higher than max...weird isnt it?coolant temp is at the end of 0...I worry if it is something major...
  4. Thank you Loren...Is it ok for oil level to be two lines below max when cold and one above max when hot?all times now when hot it was below cold level...Outside temp is very hot...37-40 celcious...
  5. Hello there...After 63000miles of a C2 MY02 my brother owns, oil pressure started behaving strange...when hot and idling the pressure started dropping below 1bar...and after a heavy traffic it went below 0,5 bar and pressure warning light came up...i replaced sender unit(VDO) without any success...same results...when hot and idling it stays below 0,5bar...He uses only mobil 1 0-40 current oil has run 3000miles...Also oil level has weird behaviour...when cold it is two line below max...But when hot(and after warning for oil pressure) it goes over max....!!!Engine has always ran fine,no check engine lights, could it be a bad oil/air seperator?Any ideas?
  6. Thank you...Exactly as I thought...More differences between X50 and stock 996TT...
  7. My friend...just go for it and buy a 996TT...install sport suspension and reflash it...You will never forget the first time you drive it...
  8. Hello there...i was in the same exact position as you...Over the last years I changed many BMW M cars and after an amazing drift car, supercharger M Roadster,I changed team and bought a boxster S(04)...the car had amazing grip and quality...After a year I bought a 996 carrera2cabrio(02). Very nice car, different handling than the boxster (more difficult to drive it hard) and good power with PSE,reflashed ECU and KN 63-7000 kit...I was able to be faster than any NA M3 of my friends here...But I wanted more power...and more power...and better grip...and tons of torque...so the solution was 996TT...Just amazing...i will never forget the first time I drove it...I was speechless of the power, grip, handling, brakes and quiet level of the car...but the need of power is still here.after a month i reflashed the ECU and installed a BMC filter so to get close to 500hp...i wanted to be able to pass M6,M5,gallardo and ferrari430...But the need of power is still here so now I am trying to buy an exhaust and a set of bigger turbos in order to get at 580-600hp...The chassis is so great that handles the power with extreme ease...when cornering at high speeds I try to hold the wheel stable because I am moving out of the drivers seat...i ve never missed the cabrio...(friend bought it so at summer we may switch for a ride,he loves the TT)the only problem with the 996TT is that it does everything so good that there is no other car you will buy after...except maybe for the 997TT but who knows...
  9. The gyus that chipped my car,are trying to fix the software problem...Because the way finally they treat me is very well and it is a good after sales service i believe thaey should came to a success...I will keep this site informed...
  10. Hello there...Until last week my car was completely stock and boost pressure was 0.8 constant...Last week I installed a BMC air filter and I flashed my ECU on a very well known and respective ecu tuner...I am not going to name the tuner since I believe he is about to fix my following problem...The problem is that the max boost pressure I see is 0.8 to 0.9 Not even a spike of 1bar...i was expecting at least 1.0 bar with spikes of 1.1 My worst problem is that the car goes in safety mode with max boost 0.5 and my OBD reader says P1250(over boost pressure)How on earth could this be possible without even reaching 1bar?I mean this limitation should occure at about 1.4 bar...
  11. what about pistons,valves...etc...My goal is to produce about 580hp...Without opening the engine,reliable...So I am making a very careful consideration of what to buy in order to achieve it...If the engine internals are safe in that HP it is amazing... Your goal was my goal and i hope my experience with my car could be useful for you. 1) 100% stock engine internals (of course if i had the idea to change the internals i would do everything, crankshaft, pistons, valves, cammes...but 580 HP don't need internals change... as u say...really amazing !!! 2) Swap from k16 to k24 (but you can go Hybrids ... there's a lot of possibilities) 3) Ecu flash for sure 4) New Forge diverter valves 5) New k24 evoms headers (don't need to get more power, stock are perfect) 6) Stock exhaust modified with 100 cell cats 7) 5 bar fpr (probably don't need but better be sure with the fuel) 8) Blown six design larger intercoolers 9) Evoms wastegate boost kit set at 1,2 bar 10) Rev limiter to 7050 RPM 11) 350 mm front 996 gt3 cup brake discs with 6 pistons caliper (power needs brakes) My Porsche is a 90000 km car (56000 miles) with the stock original doublemass flywheel and stock sachs clutch not slipping yet, and its reliability looks great after 1 year with that power. 12) Of course when the clutch will begin to slip i'm gonna change it with an upgraded one but not sure there is the need of it. Bye Thank you for your reply... Here are my comments... 2)I believe K24 is the best way to go for that goal...Porsche did it in GT2 also... 6)Stock exhaust modified....What kind of modification should I do with the stock muffler...I like the quiet interior of my car when cruising...Should I buy GT2 muffler? What power did you dyno? What boost pressure?(1,2 constant?) Thank you...

  13. Considering that the ECU is fine tuned on a dyno for boost pressure of 1.2 constant...Is it safe to run it at that pressure for engine internals?
  14. Thanks for clarifing horsepower gains Vs struts...I was about to ask you where you bought them so to get a pair
  15. 2 days ago I installed a dension getaway 500 to my 996TT '03 with PCM2,bose,tel,software 3.0 ans cd changer. The only way to operate the dension is to disconnect cd changer and connect it to the fibre optic cables of the changer. Then the PCM sees it as a changer and it recognizes songs names and artists....(I use USB memory stick, not i-pod)
  16. Hello there...2 questions....How can a strut determine horsepower?i am a little lost here...also how a stock 996TT could reach boost levels up to 1.1bar?Even if it is X50?Is it normal?Wish a happy new year to everyone....and lets hope that 2008 give us more power...
  17. Hello there...When my 996TT is warm and idles, the oil pressure gauge plays within 1,2-1,5bar...Is it normal or too low?Assuming that my previous 996 carrera when idling warm had 1,5-1,7bar oil pressure...On the other hand watertemp is always lower than carrera...Weird...
  18. After extreme search,it seems that it switch for door mirrors covered with leather...
  19. Yes i am located at Athens,Greece...
  20. thank you all for your reply...the minute I manage to get a paypal card and become a contributing member,I will ask for VIN details...What is XTR Switch door mirror?
  21. Hello...iwas wondering if someone has seen the following codes...COO,XCA,XCB,XCC,XCD,XTR...I can not find them in any option code base...
