  1. The alternator cable drops down from the top of the transmission and connects to a plate. I would assume that the other wire to the plate is the wire from the battery. I would get the wires off the plate and then sand the plate. I think the plate is copper so it sands real quick. The plate is so low that it picks up alot of road dirt. Maybe the sponge material fell off my car. Paul
  2. A plug in the field does work. Spraying that stuff in a can only works for small nails. Removing the nail will make the stuff in the can not work. Most of the time, the tire will look low. Then you look for a nail. Then you add some air and then go to a tire shop that can work on our wheels. There are only a few shops that can remove the tires. Do not take it to a gas station. Paul

  4. I have had many tires patched. They only place where they cannot patch a tire is the sidewalls. I have seen guys plug tires but I would only do this until you get home so you can patch it. The rears tend to get more nails then the fronts. Paul
  5. The S has the bigger brakes. I run Pagrid Blues and they make a big difference over stock pads. Paul
  6. I have a supercharger for a 2006 997 that I would sell very cheap. It is a tpc supercharger and it really works like they say. I hope to post pictures soon. Cost over 10,000 for the parts. Cost over 2,500 to install. Hope to sell for 2,000. Yes I'm taking a big lost.   7. My 2006 does not have a cover and looks like your first picture, but missing the plastic covers like I show in the picture I posted. The picture I showed is a 2005 USA car. I looked for your part number but I could not find this part. Maybe some parts supplier in Italy can help you.. Paul
  8. I have the 997-2 cable on my car and it works great. Extremely hard to install on a tip car. Paul
  9. I like the prices with Sunset imports. Can't beet 10% profit. Removing the motor will take an experience mechanic over one hour. There are alot of steps. I am sure the release bering or the throw out bearing are the same. It is a term I used when working on the old VW car. The times have changed. Call Jeff the parts guy at Sunset. He knows his parts.   11. Yes, good tires for daily drive. Look at the hardness ratio at tire rack. The higher the number the more miles with the tires. www.tirerack.com Paul
  12. To do the clutch you drop the motor with the transmission. It is impossible to reach the high nuts. There is just no space for a hand. Make sure and get a new throw out bearing. Not much money for the protection. Paul
  13. I like these tires more than Michelin. They tend to not glaze the sides during a DE event. I try to take 2 psi out of all the tires for an event. Right now I am using a Pirelli which is a harder tire. They tend to slide more in the turns. Paul

  18. I do not believe that a loose oil cap would cause an ims problem. Note that there are three oil pumps on a 997-1. With three pumps, you do not need to warm up the motor to drive. There is a line from the motor to the oil seperator to the throttle body, but this would be more emission problems then oil pump problems. Most of the replacement motors are hand built and not machine built so you should have a better motor than a new one. Paul
  19. Open the trunk and open the first plastic door in front of you. There should be a big plastic box that houses the NAV DVD player. Paul
  20. You can get harder tires if you want them to last a little longer. Yokohama and Michelin Pilot Cup tires are the softest. Pirrelli have some hard tires. Look at the hardness ratio on a site like tirerack.com. The inner tire is the wear area for these tires. Paul
  21. If you are looking for the top of the spring towers, they are in the engine area. Paul
  22. I think the blue is a few dollars cheaper then the Gold. I just happen to be using the blue. It is a very easy color to see in sun light when your bleeding the brakes. Paul
  23. Now try the Pagrid blue disk. They are 100 percent better then stock pads. Also get the high temperature blue brake fluid for the higher temps. Paul
