  1. OK got to the bottom of this, it seems the bulletin has a mistake in it - found another post that seems to confirm this. Will check the colour of wires into slot 25 when I have the relay carrier down again. BTW there is very little give in my relay carrier the main bundle of wires seem to be clipped together and tied to the edge of the relay carrier precluding much movement - any tips? Why do Porsche not correct the bulletin seems people have been struggling with this step since 2004 at least!! http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...ic=6173&hl= Still be interested in how to translate the text in the wiring diagrams e.g. BS11 17/C8 how does that refer to slot 28?? Cheers
  2. Hi, finally got around to this, I have the old non-switchable PSE, so I am adding the switch looks quite straight forward, but am struggling to equate the wiring diagram with the PSE install technical bulletin. One particular wire - diagram shows it as Grey/Blue/Brown from terminal 3 of switch to BS 5/2 DIM 2/D3 ??? The bulletin says it should go to jumper plug 5/2 slot 28. Now I know where slot 28 is (as another wire brown from terminal 3 of the PSE relay ran to it). Does the grey blue brown run to this say block? Any free slot. I suppose what I am asking is how to translate the BS 5/2 nomenclature to the slot 28 and then which part of the terminal? Thanks in advance.
  3. Hi, I know its been posted before and there are pictures but to remove the one piece horseshoe shaped piece of trim is it brute force to pull it off get once you get a plastic spoon our other some such lever behind it. Or is there a knack to unhooking clips - don't want to snap anything!!
  4. Wow - just found a comment on another PSE thread - 'don't take any notice of the terminal numbering on the relay its the numbering on the relay socket which is what the Techincal bullitin refers to'. The numbering is tiny white raised numbers on a white terinal block very difficult to see. It all makes sense now!! Thought I was going mad!! usually able to read a circuit diagram OK - couldn't beleive the bullitin would be so wrong. Great forum thanks
  5. Hi, did you get your retrofit of the Tip switch for the PSE completed? I have an 2002 C4S with the PSE and also want to add the switch. I am having trouble working out the wiring I have the switch and the 03 version of the relay do you have any suggestions. I bought the wiring harness but coparing it to the TSB on the retrofit of PSE the coloured wires seem to be pre-engaged in the wrong terminals of the connector blocks?? Thanks
  6. Short Shifter GT3 delete kit - more room for your left leg - (I am in the UK) - and a link to the 993 dash - a slightly retro feel Techart steering wheel - nice annd chunky Twin tips 'cos they look nice! Cruise control - in progress
  7. The second picture does look like the Porsche Techequipment version of the shifter. I bought one a few months ago - when you get it from the dealer you also get the nylon bushes that go at each end. You will need these to fiit the shortshifter in your standard housing. You can't reuse the old bushings you'll have to destroy those to get the old shifter out. Putting the OEM bushings in when you fit the short shifter is also quite a challenge! I have seen a different design bushing (I think that comes with the B&M sold shifter ) that doesn't use a push fit but uses instead a circlip I think (anyone have any infoo. on this and if they can be bought seperatly?)
  8. Thanks for the reply - but I am still unclear - I have the PSE but the old speed control version - or I think thats what it was called - it doesn't have the manual override via the switch that the new system has. My query was was whether the manual bypass kit Gert is selling could tap into the old style PSE to offer this manual over-ride.
  9. Hope it doesn't sound daft but what does the above provide? I saw this item offered on the carnewal website and wondered if it would enable me to switch on and off my sports exhaust? I have a 2002MY 996 C4S with sports exhaust which is always on - and believe it or not sometimes get a bit weary of all the exciting noises !!! Just wondered if this retrofit would enable me to control whatever it is that makes the exhaust rorty? If it is the ticket - does anyone know how easy or not it would be to fit myself - is there any drilling of the exhausts for example? Does the retrofit have the annoying nanny control that kicks in (and then off again) at a certain speeds - that would have to go! Thanks
  10. Wow - thanks for the quick reply - but where do I get a screwdriver in - from behind? The c4S tip seems to have a welded plate across the back of the tip - in effect blanking off access to the clamp mechanisim - the only access being to the bolt via an access hole in the underside of the tip. Thanks
  11. Hi, any idea how to remove the exhaust tips from a MY2002 C4S - large oval type. Have bought a set of the twin intersecting oval tips which I prefer to the ones I have currently. Thought it would be a simple matter to change. Have slackened off the bolt through the access hole but cannot remove the tip, I understand and can see there is a split ring/collar arrangement - but how to expand this so as to get the tip off. Is there a special tool/ trick. The tip swivels around the collar and is quite loose - but I think I somehow need to expand the tips outer ring to release the whole tip. Any ideas??
