  1. clutch is worn out man. been down that road 3 times in 3 different porsches.
  2. im really not up for a $2500 system that 'looks cool' and if that part is required i will have it soon. also will look into oil seperator per your advice. im just so tired of this project as it has eaten up more than a month of my time shared with my car. getting a little worn out on the idea of 'bolt on' power and 'all inclusive kits' pfft. i can only advise not to ever engage in doing so with your porsche unless your have more time and money then brains. go out and buy the turbo...... Sc or Turbo, it doesn't matter, anytime you add forced induction to an engine that didn't come from the factory that way you had better be WELL SCHOOLED on ALL the issues. well im a firm believer in learning from experience regardless of outcome. i was getting impatient as it has been over month with everything said and done. heres the current update if your curious B) everything is correctly installed i just put 100 miles on her tonight! i think because the ECU was remapped it still had to adjust, which it does automatically when unplugged from the battery. thats my understanding from installing a battery previously. i noticed the car did not respond like it use to and that i had to drive her in order for the ECU to adjust to how i drive. same thing now and i have noticed since i first got the car (cold) it ran poor and now its a champ again! filled her up with 100 octane and felt her out. a lot is different and i will take some notes tomorrow with some thoughts i have. i will also plug in the durametric deal and get some data. pics and video soon too! paul i think i saw ur car today on laurel lol.

  4. hi paul, spoke with tom today actually. he has never spoken of a piggy back system but if you read from his site which was just updated it states very clearly at the bottom of units page "Kit is available for the 99-04 Porsche 996 Carrera C2 or C4. All results are on a 6 speed manual transmission car. Kit includes everything needed for installation including the piggyback ECU upgrade, intake, supercharger, intercooler, and all hardware and fittings. This kit is very reliable, safe, and daily driveable for everyday use." i will be sure to inquire about it tomorrow as the piggy back apparently is REQUIRED to make this proper, i really wonder why i did NOT rec the system in the first place??
  5. Hmmm..1978 SC Targa...buy that in Fresno..?? i dont own a 78 targa, i own a 78 911 sc coupe all original in poor condition and has been family owned for the past 25-30 years ;)
  6. hey ive got some news! the timing is off. spoke with tpc today and cars going back to installer. seems to be some kind of crankshaft ventilation pipe. either its plugged or not plugged from what i gathered... im not a mechanic but maybe something to consider if your going to put one on your 996. anyway will keep you guys updated as car will see the garage again tomorrow. pics will be here soon along with some possible video. btw i do have a durametric kit. hey west and 1999 wheres your registry entries of your sweet porsches?
  7. a light may be left on or something else continually draining the battery. i have same optima i bought around last year too with no problems.
  8. my ecu was sent out from my shop who installed the SC to TPC. TPC only remapped it and sent it back. last time i spoke with TPC they did not mention piggy back system. Ok, as long as you are running TPC's program. The installer should easily be able to determine boost, if there are any leaks, fuel trim, timing, etc. boost is 5 psi and she is not leaking, not sure what fuel trim is? what timing are you referring to? and what else might ask the shop about? i.e. etc

  10. wwest, hi there and thanks for your thoughts! first of all, im already running 103 octane. im sure the timing and air/gas ratio is off, i desperately need to get her on the dyno then i think this problem will be corrected. btw when you refer to compression, are you suggesting a compression test? i asked for this test at a dealer prior to install of SC and they said it was not a good idea at that time. i have booked some time for a dyno this week and after that i guess im going to a dealer for a compression test. will a dyno produce these compression results? where would one read more about knock/ping sensors on the 2nd gen 996?
  11. beauar, when you say "everything", i think you mean just the supercharger kit? please note that i have to dyno the car still so i will clue you in on whats spent so far. tpc charger kit $7500 3rd radiator $500 labor $5000 _________________ roughly $13k dyno will be another $500 for a three runs pics will arrive soon. car is at the body shop for another 5 days for the gt2 wing.
  12. more recently installed a supercharger and first time driving it feels like a totally different car. heres what im working with currently: 02 996 C2 - tpc supercharger kit - ecu remapped by tpc - 3rd radiator installed - lightweight flywheel - stage 1 clutch prior to install of supercharger car had all the same modifications except the ecu was not remapped, that came with charger install. i know i have to get her to a dyno and check a number of things but my short test drive i experienced a "floggy" first gear and super low power at lower rpm ranges (2300 or less). im pretty sure its the ecu map. i have a durametric kit but i dont think i can write/flash the ecu. any ideas on how i can reflash the ecu myself or fix my first gear problem? wondering what the car is like? its wicked past 3500 rpm  she still needs her differential work done. got any clue where i can pick up a true lsd other than the oem gt3 or quaife option. best, tecra :renntech:
  13. Hello, I will soon be installing a GT2 wing on my 2002 Seal Grey 996 and need to order paint but seems to be two options, which one should I order? (1) 6B4 (2) 6B5 <---- is bold on renntech's list Any help is appreciated, thanks!
  14. Paul, hey im a san carlos man myself as i work on laurel st! anyway, i had given both wevo and sharkwerks a call today and neither want to take a project on like this...... thanks for your input though and see you on the track soon! just joined pca and starting school and the 11th. so far i have contacted these shops with no luck: 1) GD racing (south san francisco) - NO 2) Wevo (san carlos) - NO 3) Sharkwerks (santa clara) - NO 4) Jerry Woods Enterprises (campbell) - havent heard back yet 5) TRG (petaluma) - possibly doing the work thanks for your input guys, i may have to goto arizona if TRG cant assist me. Arizona? Try Reno. You're only 4 hours away. A frind of mine owns a shop and it's called Modified Auto. He works on ny cars, rebuilding engines, installing turbos etc. His phone number is 775-412-7884. Ask him to see if he can install it for you. I think a lot of them don't want to install it due to what's involved. It a PITA to install and it takes too long. Where did you get your supercharger from ? TPC? or Ebay? picked up the charger manufacture direct from TPC. i may be up for selling the complete kit if someone has interest. please PM me for price inqueries, thanks

  16. any ideas in CA for a shop to install supercharger? i live in the bay area, but anywhere in CA will do fine with some experience with this procedure
  17. what up i got an 02 cab c2 and i have the h & r springs on with stock dampeners but running 18s not 19s. let me tell you this much, w/o these lowering springs you would NOT be able to press 120+ due to air running underneath the front-end and causing lift. i know cuz it was my problem prior to install and after it fixed that as well as lower center of gravity which allowed me to run into a turn much faster! only downside is the springs are weak and not full suspension setup and due to a shorter spring i bottom out quite a bit. i dont know what kind of driver u are but if u like me with hard street use and some track go for JRZ for racey setup or billstien for the aggressive street setup. i would recommend some kind of 2 way adjustables. btw, your cab with the gt2 front-end looks dope! think i may do that after seeing yours. my best
  18. Loren, sorry to start this debate. just had some thoughts that i wanted to share with other 996 owners. i know your knowledge of Porsche's is very extensive and just hope to attain information from this great forum. do you have have some information regarding burning oil in my car? my best, tecra :renntech:
  19. thanks for the response guys! JeTexas, im thinking those mods are adding more air in the car and its overly compensating with oil and fuel? i'am also getting less mpg than originally when i had the cars w/o modifications. im not complaining about mpg though, more oil consumption than anything else. any feel for your 996 oil consumption over a 1000 mile period anyone?
  20. what up fellow porsche drivers well after having the 02' 996 cabrio c2 for going on 2 years now and driven pretty hard, im finding that im burning oil pretty quickly. my mechanic did an oil consumption test over 1000 miles and the car went through just about all of the oil. she needs about one quart every 500-600 miles with about 56,000 miles on her. she has many modifications, including schnell cold air intake, k&n air filter, 3rd radiator install, muffler by-pass pipes that may be effecting the cars oil consumption. my mechanic recently told me about BMWs new M3 oil which is 10w-60. anyone have any ideas on utilizing this oil? im sure porsche has yet to approve it
  21. hey there blue monster, i was wondering what lights you ordered from superlumination.com? specifically the part numbers. i searched the site and seem to have found the signals but for foggers im getting lost. the picture you have doesnt match up to any of those products imo. hoping you could tell me exactly the color and part number you ordered from them, thank my best, tecra
  22. dude you should buy it and let us know if it works or not and return it if you have a problem. what do you say? bobby
  23. your a champ for pointing that out and i agree. Renntech is the #1 porsche enthusiast forum. Joined: 17-October 06, and gained so much from this board and the admins are dope! :renntech:
  24. Not sure if it's the same but on a 997 there is a red terminal inside the fuse box that you can grab and pull out. Hook the + side of a batery charger or jumper cables to it, and the - side to the door hinge or something solid metal and you will have enough juice to open the hood. Maybe easier than fishing for the cable. Good luck PB aintpatricksday, dude sorry for my arrogance and ignorance. your absolutely right! much easier to utilize the positive hook-up located in the fusebox! your a champ yo! :renntech: :thankyou: bobby d
