  3. so i can not seem to find a picture for you guys but i have seen many 02+ 996 gt3's with a blueish tinted glass headlight. they do not appear to be film covers and i have only seen this on gt3's. is it possible to order these headlights and put them on my 02 996 c2? found a pic here but it is a 997
  4. 25-26 lbs front (18.7.5), 30 lbs rear (18x10). It's not especially precise, I just weighed myself, then weighed myself again holding each of the wheels (which do NOT currently have tires mounted on them). I don't happen to have a pic of my own wheels handy but I've attached a pic I pulled off of eBay of the exact same wheels. With tires, these feel MUCH heavier than my original 17" twists. are those weights given for wheels tires together

  6. i have done some research on the subject and have the same feelings about the quaife POS. guard transmission does makes two options for the C2 but both are pricey.

  8. wwest, ive heard of doing to two head gaskets but hear more about changing out pistons. look at response for 1999Porsche991 below. There is obviously something wrong with your SC setup or with the dyno/operator. You should be conservatively getting 350+ rwhp. Currently, my high boost 99 C2 is delivering in excess of 450 rwhp with stock compression. Check your boost behind the throttlebody, plugs and timing. A vacuum gauge may show a large vacuum leak. Many of these units were installed by people who did not know what there were doing. It's relatively simple to produce 400 rwhp once your current system is running as designed. 1999Porsche911, the SC is installed correctly. what is wrong is the ECU is not mapped correctly. i should have the data soon to support that. my dyno guy explained where in the low-end there was not enough gas then also in the high-end it would drop off too. he mentioned that fuel pump maybe be bad or not pushing enough fuel but further testing he came to the conclusion that the ECU is not mapped correctly and not sending enough fuel out. who did your SC install 1999? Who did your install? The ECU update is a standard part of the system, so your computer has either been updated or not. Lack of fuel would not allow you to even get close to redline so a proper dyno run would not be possible. Basic readings should be known, such as fuel trim, MAF signal, timing and level of boost; at idle and near redline. Further tuning is not possible without these readings. I had install done with a race shop in San Carlos, CA. They had sent the ECU out to TPC in MD, and re-installed here. The dyno was never pushed to redline as I was afraid of blowing the motor. Dyno was setup not to reach further than 6500 RPM. It was more diagnostic then anything. I will obtain the results later today or tomorrow and forward them on to you guys here as well as TPC. Im pretty sure that the ECU is not flashed correctly.

  10. hello to all, finally had my car on the dyno and the mechanic was very informative. my supercharged 996 3.6 is pumping out a little less than 300 to the rear wheels in hp and torque. not too happy about that as i was hoping to have upwards of 400. understanding more and more of producing power, how would one go about lowering the compression to the motor? where can i buy better 996 pistons? anyone know of a shop in CA to do a complete engine rebuild? best, tecra
  11. hey wwest and 1999Porsche! you guys have much knowledge concerning the superchargers and appreciate your comments on my threads. as per PJA's question (keep in mind i have a 02 996 supercharged and running wonderfully!), i have yet to dyno her but will come march after i visit thunderhill. i would guesstimate 100 hp increase along with 80 lbs of torque. i can confidently tell you i eat stock 911 for breakfast and for dinner i enjoy stock turbos B) tecra
  12. dude chill, no programming the key yourself, get the proper key from a dealer. the PIWIS/PST2 machines are very expensive and built for mechanics and dealers. did you buy this car without starting it ever or did it turn over at some point when you were present? i would explore these routes if this were my car: 1) get the original key 2) buy the duramtric tool 3) clutch pedal sensor (for when you press the clutch in for starting the car, assuming you are already) 4) spark plugs

  14. hi and thanks for having a look. i have a 2002 996 C2 Cab and currently running the optional 18" sport design wheels with measurements of (taken from service info book): front 225/40 ZR 18 on 8 J x 18 RO 50 (52) rear 285/30 ZR 18 on 10 J x 18 RO 65 and my questions are... what would increasing the width of the wheel do to the car overall? (im thinking wider wheel = more surface area and friction which equates to more traction and drag). spacers can simulate this and i guess if u didnt want to purchase different wheels, then that would be an easy route. not to mention you could have spacers for multiple setups cost effectively. does anyone have feedback from setups like these? front 8.5 x 18 rear 10.5 x 18 or front 8.5 x 18 rear 11 x 18 :renntech:
  15. keep in mind that 750 bmw is newer car with more power and porsches are NOT drag racing vehicles. what kind of racing are u talking about? from a stand still take off or running start in 2nd/3rd or freeway mashup? but to answer your question, i would reduce weight w/o modifying much of the car internally (no nos). i.e. the crap under the bonnet and/or even dump the mufflers to reduce 50 lbs. a reduction in weight is a gain in power. a remapped ecu will give you some more response too.

Your MAF signal is not calibrated properly. i also wasnt able to find "timing" and whats LTFT and STFT? dont think i saw those either?? is there anyway to alter durametric software to mph instead of kph and celcius to farenheit? can i use a gt3 air filter and bypass the MAF sensor altogether? LTFT = Long Term Fuel Trim STFT = Short Term Fuel Trim Durametric can show both metric and standard values The MAF must be used. Read the durametric manual for how to show the values mentioned. hey i did read the manual an did not locate where or how-to change the metric values to standard (i have 2 versions of durametric software). also unable to locate LTFT, STFT, Timing, Coolant Temp under "Actual Values" tab. in another location of the software?
  17. i would recommend one of those cold air intakes (just a plastic elbow) but some some searching here and you can find the parts to construct your own. exhaust parts are expensive and you should also consider the muffler by pass pipes ($200) even though it MAY throw CEL. you can clear it with the enthusiast version durametric cable ($100). the by pass pipes give the most authentic race sound produced. sounds just like a gt3! driver beware, its very loud. check out fabspeed video of the bypass pipes btw, i do run all these parts myself except i still have the schnell cold air intake laying around (less than a year on her). i removed it as i have supercharger installed and running different air filter/box. i can sell you mine for $25 plus shipping

  21. The data you collected is meaningless. Capture the follwing information all the way to redline in 2nd or 3rd gear. RPM Coolant temp MAF (in kg/h) Timing After Cat O2 sensor voltage Throttle position LTFT and STFT. Also show MAF signal at idle with AC off. If you have the ability, measure vacuum at idle and boost at redline. my interesting findings on run 2 of durametric deal well i wish i had written down this list to check off when running the durametric deal. i had run some other values just off the hip and interesting findings. i will definately check those options next time im out with her. it just started raining and really couldnt push her or even come close to a redline. no fun...... keep you posted. i also wasnt able to find "timing" and whats LTFT and STFT? dont think i saw those either?? is there anyway to alter durametric software to mph instead of kph and celcius to farenheit? i have fault code P0103 - Heat Film MAF Sensor it displayed. i reviewed the DME 7.2 fault text and codes under that code and having a hard time determining how this chart works.
