  1. Porsche stop making the old style cable and wants me to pay $300.00-$400.00 in parts for the door to accept the new style cable... I don't think so. I cut the new style to fit the door but it didn't work. Does anyone know where I can find the old style...Sun doesn't have any, local dealer doesn't, and LA Dismantler is looking. The drawing is the end that goes into the door handle. Oklahoma Foreign said they would sell me one for,,,ready....$40.00 and LA Dismantler said $30.00. Come on...new was $7.00. I hung up on them. Still looking if anyone can help.

  6. I'm redoing my shifter knob. The silver part feels like it should come off but won't move any more than shown. No screws can bee seen from the inside. What does it take to remove the silver part. Also,,what will polish and make the silver look new. Thanks

The dealer here has one for 391.00...not bad....they are 60 miles away....I have roadside asst....they love me....Called them and said I need a tow from Pensacola Fl to Mobile AL....they were no at first...explained that it was about 1 hour away....at lease I gat a laugh from that....it will done Saturday. Dealer said that the key fob sometimes won't program, which means another 150.00...love the dealer... I will have drain holes for the next rain storm
  14. Thanks...I will order one from Pel Parts tomorrow, 400.00... I have a friend that should have a programmer, if not, 100.00 - 150.00 more to program. not bad. You can bet there will be some drain holes in the floor board now...heheh
  15. Do you think that it will be better to buy one from Pel Parts and have it programmed. I figure, $400.00 plus programming, a new unit would be better than a used one and the part in the trunk should be fine.......any thoughts....thanks for the fast reply
  16. This about the post about water damage, can someone please read the last post I did on this topic. I need to order a part and need an answer to decide what to order...thanks so much.....link to the water damage question below http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?/topic/35757-98-boxster-wont-crank/

Will it need to be programmed. Will the car run before it is programmed. I hate to spend 600.00 - 700.00 for a M535 and a brain and a key fob if I don't have to. Am I missing something here. Need a little help to try and save some money.....Thanks

  20. 98 boxster..the other day the interior lights were flashing and a loud humming from inside the car. Pulled over and shut it off and it won't crank back up.. After a hour, it started back up and ran fine for 5 days, Then it did the same thing again. Replaced the ignition switch....no cranking....looking under the driver seat, it was wet. The first time it won't crank, it rained that day. It also rain very hard the second time. I took the M535 brain box apart and it didn't look pretty. That was were the humming was coming from. The central lock light on the dash won't light up, the passager door won't lock. I clean the electronic board with contact cleaner and still nothing. When you turn the key, nothing is going to the starter. All other electrical things work fine. tried jump starting, nothing. Will the M535 keep the car from cranking. Help.....
  21. Key fob hasn't work in forever....when you lock it with the key, it beep twice, the clamshell is off the hinges because the cable broke but it's been that way for 1 year, the micro there isn't the issue,,, can a micro in the door cause it not to lock
  22. I had it read at AutoZone and no fault code on the alarm system
  23. I know the issue is with the central locking system. it will not light up on the dask when I click the button. The remote doesn't work, when I lock the car, you can hear it lock and then it unlocks. After about 3 tries, the driver door will lock but nothing else will. The passenger door and the gas flap won't lock. Can it be a mirco switch somewhere or will it be the cpu under the seat since the switch for the central locking won't do anything....I have check the fuse under the seat (good) no water under the seat and carpet is dry, .....any ideas
  24. daily driven....changed plugs, runs better...a leak in the catalytic converter appeared from no where. There wasn't one there before....very strange. I can feel the air when I put my hand up to it. If I run straight pipes and remove the cat's. what do I do with wires from the O sensors
