  1. Did reception improve when you replaced the head unit only?
  2. anyone know production volume of the MY97? and subsequent years?
  3. Put the car through emissions yesterday, passed! driving around after the party last night... start the car cold, pump cycles on and off, 15 seconds later, i get this code P0410 Secondary Air Injection System - Signal Implausible (Cylinders 1 - 3) the fuse is ok, pump turns on ok. my97 with a my99 engine. any ideas on where to start?
  4. pump turned on an off correctly this morning.
  5. NO HOOKS! FLAT BED ONLY! if the tow truck driver pulls a hook and chain of any shape or size out tell them to leave immeadiatley! This shows they do not have the correct equipment and do not know the proper way to tow the car and they will damage your car. If you don't make the tow point accesable, (removing the bumper) they should be using a soft hook up, with endless loops or round slings on strong point of suspension to bring the car onto the bed. they should be using either a shark tail flat bed or ramps to help load onto the bed. they should secure car to flat bed using wheel straps, either "porsche" straps which loop through the wheel. or over the tire straps. other things to watch out for... 1. chains, don't allow a chain anywhere near the car. 2. no hooks, there are no hook points on a porsche other than the detatchable tow hook.(not sure of older models) 3. do not use the winch to secure the car. they should load the car with the winch and then hand tighten all tie down straps. (10,000lb winch + unattentive tow truck driver = destroyed porsche) 4. do not let them drive onto the flatbed, just search youtube and you'll see an example with a carrera gt 5. the car should be secured to bed before the bed is lifted off the ground (just in case the winch fails the car will roll off, not fall off)
  6. OK, Fuse for seconday air pump broken (i say broken because it did not appear to be blown) we'll see what happens in the morning when i start the car cold and drive to work.
  7. error codes... P0410 - Secondary Air Injection System - Signal Implausible (Cylinders 1 - 3) P1411 - Secondary Air Injection System - Signal Implausible (Cylinders 4 - 6)
  8. Ok, I have a secondary air injection problem. (don't have the codes on me right now) i've read a few articles here on the pump et al. this last weekend i opened up the engine compartment and started the car (cold) to check for noise coming from pump. no noise. no movement. any ideas on where to start? Fuse? Ground? Relay? Sensor? etc...
  9. i've got a 97 (197,000 miles) with a 99 engine (dont know miles)(replaced engine due to a supercharger explosion on sebring!) some bits and pieces replaced, repaired and upgraded to keep it going. all in all, has held up very well, the guy i bought it from drove it hard as do i.
  10. update again, i drilled out the stripped torx, it wasn't going to come out anyway it was coorroded so badly corrosion on connector is present, but that is not the cause of problem, the friggin alarm/stereo jack%#$$es cut the frieaking red/grey and did a terrible job splicinng it back together and it came apart and when they put the connector back on they mangled all the seals. word of caution to the peeps, choose your alarm/stereo installers wisely! i'm going to dig through the reciepts for the car and when i foind out who installed the alarm and stereo i'll post it here
  11. Update, So i pulled the door of the hinges so i could get a better look at the screw, the reason why i don't have a torx that fits nicely is that i have discovered yet another thing the guys who installed the alarm and stereo for the previous owner had screwed up by stripping the screw.
  12. wow, how do you guys find these threads, i search and find nothing! So we have narrowed it down to that connector, i've got power on th car side, no power on the door side. any idea what size of torx? i dont seem to have anything that is fitting nicely and it is hard to see exactly what i'm dealing with
  13. Hi, so, passenger side power window is not working. drivers side works perfectly window regulator is new and is ok, disconnected window motor and no go, plug in a few from the junk yard and all no go. replaced center conosle power window switch for pass side. check for "hot" with my test light and i get power at the plug when select up or down on the switch, checked the ground through plug (brown wire) and it works. i do not have hot on large wire red/grey any ideas on where else to check? thanks
  14. Ok, post surgery report... i had to get the Flexane 94, no one had 80 for several hundred miles. take your time when preparing for the pour, really make sure you seal it up on the bottom. the ride is stiff, the throttle response is definetly improved. the vibrations on the other had are a little much for my wife, it feels like a race car which in my mind is awesome, but it is a little harsh for daily driving. i may redo a mount with the 80 to see if it is any better. anyone have an old mount they would like to sell?
  15. Just a little heads up, if you haven't already heard, the new series "setup" on speed has a competitor from the Porsche club, Kenton Durkee, he is currently chairman of the Arizona Region autocross events for 2006/2007 for info on the show, setup-tv.com
  16. Ok, so i've made my jig, cut out templates in cardboard that will align center portion of mount. any thoughts on efficiently removing all the rubber?
  17. getting ready to redo my motor mount, i like the idea repairing the factory mount by removing all of the stock rubber and replacing with the flexane 80 is the 1lb kit enough to complete the job? thanks, ked F1 web Services
  18. i just replaced my top with the Robbins, i got it from topsonline.com and had installed by speed gallery in studio city, ca. cost of the top $715 (included shipping) $500 install the quality of the robbins is great, the glass window is a major improvement over the plastic, no more boxster chop! no longer need to worry about the temp outside if the window will crack.
  19. Thank You.... I just did the repair, this solved the problem of no heat and not very cold a/c, instead of using elec tape and window/door foam, i used "pipe wrap insulation tape", it has an adhesive back, 1/8" thick foam, and foil exterior. the insulation tape is made by "frost king" and is 2" wide, available at home depot.
