  1. Hi Loren, The O2 sensor before cat on bank 1 has been replaced, but still the same P0130 code. Can the O2 sensort after cat be at fault? I cannot get it loose to inspect it.. Allso how can P1125 & P1126 exist at the same time? Thanks!
  2. Noticed it mostly smells like gas comming from the right tip of the exhaust (passenger side). Checked bellows but not cracks or leaks. Neither in the exhaust system (as far as I can see or feel). Can the O2 sensor after cat be at fault? Can get that one to get loose.. Loren do you have any clue as to what's going on? Thanks!
  3. Well the codes are back again: P1125 P1128 P1126 P0130 (Boxster S - 2001) Car is running crappy and smelling like gas.. Any more ideas? FYI car started having problems after dealer changed the clutch & flywheel (having to partially take off the exhaust?). I noticed some mess with sealing material between the two exhaust halves. Could that have anything to do with it?
  4. The numer is located on the MAF itself. Should be 996.606.124.00 for the old version of the ECU and 986.606.125.01 for the new version. Just order the MAF with number you have in your car today. Good luck!
  5. Well problem solved  Turned out to be just the O2 sensor ahead of cat on Bank 1 (causing the P0130 CEL). MAF was fine. Shows to see that if you disconnect your MAF after strange symtoms it doesn't automaticly mean your MAF is bad. Now enjoy driving it again. ;-) Thanks guys!
  6. Agree! Will try that tomorrow. Thanks for your help (**** it's early is the US ;-)
  7. Hi Loren, Do you have any idea? Just the MAF at fault here? Thanks! Regards, Sebastian
  8. Hi Rodger, Yes I replaced all 4 O2 sensors 3 months ago. After checking them 3 days ago, there was just one that was slightly clogged. I unclogged it with a small srewdriver (not toughing the inside "nose" ofcourse). I have now driven 200 miles with the MAF disconnected and the car runs fine. Missing a few horses for sure, but no more rich exhaust fumes and the idle is fine too. Don't get a CEL light though. Isn't that stange? Can this only mean that my MAF has gone south again??? Or can there be some other things wrong with it as well?
  9. Maybe. But still got that very gassy smell. Wouldn't want to keep a lighter anywhere near the back of the car... :(
  10. Well after reprogramming the DME and using the later style MAF the car has ran great for months, and I use it on a daily basis so that's not is. Something has broken but I cannot figure out what..
  11. Well just disconnected the MAF en resetted the DME. Car runs slightly better now, but still the gassy smell. If my MAF broken or could it still be the oxygen sensor?
  12. My DME was upgrated by my Porsche dealer. Allso they put in the later style MAF with partno.: 986-606-125-01 The shop put in some new Beru spark plugs with partno.: 14FGR-6KQU Z129 / R6545 some 5k miles ago and the car was running great. I just replaced all plugs yesterday (same type) to be sure the plugs weren't the issue. Seems Cyl 4-6 are out of range, perhaps due to the clogged oxygen sensor? I unclogged it, but could be broken as well? All 4 oxygen sensors are only 3 months old. Does anyone knwo what these codes actually mean? - P0130 - O2 sensor Cyl 1-3 intercore shorted or limited - P0156 - O2 sensor Cyl 4-6 intercore short circuit Parts that were replaced (by dealer): -MAF -Plugs -AOS -Oxygen sensors -DME software Can I test to see if the clogged oxygen sensor is broken by exchanging it post- or pre cat or to the other side? Or disconnect en see what happens? Thanks.
  13. Perhaps allso good to know: On the left side (drivers side) the oxygen sensor ahead of the cat was clogged, but the spark pugs were very clean. On the right side, the oxygen sensors were ok, but the spark plugs were black with deposits.
  14. Hi Loren, My car is a Boxster S - 2001. Thanks.
  15. Hi everyone, After DME reprogramming, new MAF, 4 new oxygen sensors, new spark plugs, the Cell is back (after 5000 miles) :( I get the codes: - P1125 - P0130 - P0156 - P1276 I took out all 4 oxygen sensors just to check (last time the oxygen sensor ahead of the cat was clogged completely), and yes don't know why, but same issue this time. But only on one side ahead of cat. Cleaned the oxygen sensors, new spark plugs (just in case), reset the DME and it ran fine for 20 miles. Now the car idles poorly and smells like gas again. It is so rich that the exhaust is causing the extire backend of the car to turn black with deposits. What can it be??? I cannot detect any vacuum leaks, and everything else has been replaced. :renntech: Sebastian
  16. So got my car back from the shop. They had the DME reprogrammed and installed a newer MAF version. Now driven 2K miles and no check engine lights. The car feels differently though. Not realy slower, but different. Anyway problem solved!
  17. Don't know what that actually means but thanks! Loren do you have any clue what's going on with my engine? Any help would be appreciated!
  18. Hi Nik, Allready checked my breather hose, seems rock solid. Can it still be broken, perhaps seals worn? The click when connecting does not seem that extremely tight.. Still unexplainable how a MAF with same partnumbers (99660612400) fabricated in 2001 does work and the same MAF fabricated in 2006 does not.. Can anyone tell me what CEL 0107 is all about? Thanks! Sebas
  19. Hi Chris, Thanks very much for your reply, Yes I actually tried that a few times. No luck. Even when MAF disconnected and DME reset through disconnecting the negative pole, the car still feels like it lacks 200 horses. Actually now with an old cleaned MAF (and CEL) the cars is faster then it ever was. I was used to drive 911's but now my boxster is actually way faster than any 911 I ever drove (except the 930). Maybe my mixture is out of wack which is causing a better combustion? Any hazards? Fuel consumption and engine temp are fine.. Can any or you guys explain the difference between the old and new maf with the same partnumber? :renntech: Regards, Sebastian
  20. Hi everyone, My '01 986S is having some problems. It all started with a failing RMS, once replaced it started to leak again within the same day. And a lot! Had to refill the oil level during my ride back to the shop and the car begon to run differently (worse, rough idling etc). Could have slightly overfilled. New RMS (glued in) and no problems with leaks from this seal anymore. However the whole right side of the engine was covered in oil, so we replaced the oil filler tube since it was coverd in oil as well. Since that time variuos CEL's have haunted me. In the morning, I would claud up my street with white smoke during startup. Disconecting the throttle body, huge amount of oil in there and in the intakes as well. Mechanics replaced the Air-Oil Seperator and I cleaned the throttle body and intakes as good as I could, without taking the air intake manifolt of the engine. After that no more smoke. Still had those cell lights returning every 3-4 days after deleting them from the DME, or by disconnecting the battery lead for a few hours. It seemed like the MAF was at fault, as the car would lack power and would run and idle poorly. The original MAF (type: 99660612400 fabricated in 2001) was replaced by a new one (same one, 99660612400 BUT fabricated in 2006) and fuel consumption would go through the roof and the car was not even drivable (backfire, gas from the exhaust etc.). The new MAF with the same partno. would not work in my car at all. Tried 3 different new ones, same result. We decided to clean an old one and now the car runs fine again but stil with CEL. Replaced all 4 Oxygen sensors. One was completely clogged up and had carbon hanging from it's "nose". After that removed all DME faults, let the car sit overnight without juice and after 5 days of driving (500miles) CEL came up again (allways when idling). Repeated the process but tried those new MAF's again, same result (feels like missing 200bhp). Swapped MAF's to the old one again and the car runs great (only a little rough when idling) but I still get these codes: 1130 1128 1126 1133 0107 ?? Can you please help me? Should I have tried to fit the MAF updated version: 98660612501 Thanks! Sebastian
  21. Good morning, Try this one: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...me=STRK:MESE:IT Some threads on this exhaust on renntech somewhere. Allmost everyone I speak to is very enthusiast about the sound and gain in throttle response. I will order one this week for my 2001 S as well. Greets, doubleb
  22. Hi James, An avergage of 18-19mpg for non highway driving is acceptable. For mainly highway, constant 70mph it is not. Since yesterdag my CEL came on too. I'll have to read today. Probably needs new MAF of Oxygen sensors is my guess.. :( Warranty though! :P Greets, doubleb holland
  23. I used to average about 25mpg (80% highway, 20% not). Cleaned my MAF due to some irregular idling and cleaned the cars throttlebody. Now average consumption is up to 18-20mpg. Maybe my MAF has gone south? 20mpg without trashing the throttle is not a good average. I believe your MAF is not 100% and the car thinks it's leaning whilst actually it is not. Hence the car will inject more fuel then is necessary. Also my exhaust has a strong smell to it. Like unburnt fuel.. :renntech:
