  1. grbeiz - They offered 10% off. But more than likely, they probably did the work knowing that my warranty is almost up and that I would not be traveling 1.5 hours to them anymore... They are now the closest dealer. But, form now on I will use a competent mechanic here in town when necessary. therock88 - Benson in New Orleans was actually cheaper, 230.00 last time I had it done there. Still steep. Brian Harris in Baton Rouge is the one that charged me 350.00. Anyhow, with no dealer in New Orleans now, they might figure they can charge what they want. Still going to re-check the manual on maintenance schedule. I'm pretty sure it reads that certain work must be done accoriding to either miles or time. If that's the case, I'm just curious why the dealer said that nothing had to be done. Also, here we go again, whose right if something goes wrong down the line, the dealer or the manufacturer? I think I know..... The manufacturer. Thanks for your thoughts!! Anyone else?
  2. I've got an '06 C4S and the dealer in New Orleans is closed - they gave the franchise back to Porsche. So I scheduled a major srvc due to age of car - 4yrs(not miles - only 19000) at the next closet dealer 1.5hrs away at the same time we were to be next door picking up a new BMW. The dealer said they would call w/ an estimate before they did anything. I told them specifically not to do the oil change as they were going to chrg 350.00 for that alone and I told them I could get that done for much less or do it myself. Needless to say they did not call w/ an estimate for anything and did the oil change for 350 and on top of that they said the car did not need any of the work the manual suggests for a major as I only had 19,000 miles. So, is this a little steep for an oil change AND whose right, the manual or the shop re: no major needed? The manual specifically states that certain work is to be done by miles OR time??? Tks for the input - hate to get screwed if something does go wrong.
  3. Misery loves company. I've got the same exact problem on my 2006 C4S Cab. under the same circumstances. I've got a little over 5,000 mi and the problem has happened many times. The brakes may be good, but the noise is terrible. Sometimes I've been tempted to use my hand brake to stop as the noise is so annoying and loud - sounds like a Mack truck w/ bad brakes. Just have to put up w/ it..... The dealer says it's normal. In my opinion, pretty poor for a performance car.
  4. Thanks for the input. I just think it's kind of weird that I did not hear the noise when I first got the car and that it only happens sometimes...
  5. Who knows? I hear the noise around the dash area and the engine is in the rear?? :cursing: Still going on....
  6. It makes the noise when the climate control / AC is on or off during engine start.
  7. Changing the air flow from where ? Also, that would not explain the noise when the a/c is not turned on....
  8. Looking for a little help. I've tried a few other boards, the dealer & PCA tech board w/ no luck. I've got this noise that I did not notice when car was brand new. It happens intermittingly, maybe more often when cold out, right after I start the car. The noise comes from somewhere in the dash area, lasts for 2-3 seconds and sounds like a motor or servo starting. Kind of like a short hmmmm noise. Happens if the a/c is left on or off on start up. One dealer told me it was the compressor. But, if the a/c is off on start up, how can that be? Everything seems to work fine. Driving me crazy.... Any ideas? Thanks
  9. my manual says warm up not necessary. I do however wait for my water temp and oil temp to raise to normal before driving aggressively. Wm
  10. What I did on my 06 C4S is just have the dealer disable the chime. They did it no problem. Good luck
