  1. So I've unsuccessfully been looking for a pic of how a carpet-less 986 looks like, but no luck. I.e., I'd appreciate if someone could give me a pointer. Besides, I''m also looking for a pic of how a stripped down (fully exposed) brake handle looks like -- without all the plastic. I just got those aluminum race floor-panels that I'm debating whether to install, in lieu of my soaked & stinky carpets, or not: (Btw, if anyone in SF bay area knows how to reset an immobilizer, please p.m. me) -- peer
  2. Actually, I don't want it -- I have it. I.e., I bought a 2002 Boxster-S transmission for a 996 911 engine-swap, but never installed the tranny. Hence, I'd like to sell this 6-speed transmission but need to know what models it would fit.
  3. So will it fit, for example, a 2000 non-S Boxster..? (i.e., to bump it from 5-speed to 6-speed)
  4. I'd like to know which model years a 6-Speed Boxster-S 2002 transmission will fit.
  5. If anyone knows Flintworks' former mechanic, Steve, please PM me. -- peer
  6. Yes, and now, nine years later, I'm still curious to know how much the labor ran for Mr. Qikqbn's engine swap. -- peer
  7. I'm curious to know how much a 996 twin turbo weigh, engine only. -- peer
  8. I wonder if anyone knows what the accurate horsepower figure is for a 911SC 1982 model? I've seen it listed with everything from 170 hp to 204 hp (the latter figure from Wikipedia). -- peer
  9. After I got my see-through engine door, I've discovered a few things that make me go 'hum'. One issue is that the throttle cable doesn't pull the throttle all the way when the pedal is floored -- it's still possible to pull the throttle a bit further with my fingers. I wonder if this is due to an old stretched out cable? I checked my Bentley shop manual, but I couldn't find how to adjust this cable. Any help & suggestions appreciated. -- peer
  10. Just a silly video from a spin through the local canyons with a fellow European. Since my bike was in the shop, I drove the P-car. In the midst of it, this is what my security dash-cam picked up -- a suicidal/fearless squirrel doing a river-dance right in front of the bike: -- peer
  11. After unpacking my '98 Box from storage (for almost a year) I realize that the A/C isn't giving me any cold air. Before I parked it, the A/C worked perfectly. As always, any help appreciated. -- peer
  12. I just found the culprit; a broken shift rod (see picture below). But I have no idea how to replace it -- I don't even know how to get it off (looks like it's crush pressed) and probably need a special tool..? Again, any help appreciated (and if you're in the Redwood City, CA neighborhood and would like to help me, I'll happily treat you for a fancy dinner ;^) -- peer
  13. Thanks for replying. Tomorrow my buddy and I gonna try to figure it out. And yes, I've tried the search feature of this forum, but to no prevail. -- peer
  14. Oh boy, this won't be a 'happy new year' -- when driving home tonight I suddenly couldn't get my '98 Box into 5th gear... and then, shortly after, I realize that I only have 2nd and 4th -- no 1st, no 3rd, and no reverse. The shifter is also "loose", vertically. As always, any help appreciated. -- peer
  15. Whenever it rains, water collects somewhere behind the headrests (mostly behind the passenger seat). While driving, I can hear how it runs back & forth behind the driver's seat and the passenger seat -- sounding like it's an inch deep. Since this is something that happened quite recently, I suspect there might be some drainage that's clogged. Any help appreciated, (it's a Box '98). -- peer
  16. Yes, exactly (didn't know they were called spin locks). -- peer
  17. I'm looking for the part number for the hard-top (97-04) inserts (that stay on the car, not the top). -- peer
  18. I just got a used hard-top that fits perfectly on the car it came off of. However, on mine it won't clamp down completely on one side. Is there any adjustments I could do? Our Boxes are '98. Any help appreciated. -- peer
  19. I'm looking for a fuse connector so I can pull two wires from the fuse to a switch, (it's for my faulty horn that goes off when I brake). I wonder if such a device exist. -- peer
  20. Well, here's something crazy weird -- once in a while when I brake, the horn goes off. Although it's an intermittent problem (can be gone for days) it's quite annoying when it happens, (was even followed by a cop who thought I was honking at him). Anyone knows what this might be, and how to fix it? Btw, is there a fuse for the horn that I can pull until it's fixed, if so, where is it? Mine is a '98 Box. Any help appreciated, -- peer
  21. Thanks guys for advising on this job -- so I finally changed all my brake-rotors and pads (well, my Ducati buddy did it for me ;^) The front took only 50 minutes, while the rear took us a bit longer since we had to solder the censors (somehow I ended up with a pair that had different connectors). Now the brake-wear light is finally off, and I'm happy as a clam. -- peer

And how do you know this? Perhaps by doing the afore mentioned test of taking "the median of a series of tests"...? -- peer

Below you'll find a dyno chart for a hacked muffler. I'm just curious what they exactly did to it, since it's quite an improvement, especially the torque. -- peer
  24. I saw some increased HP numbers from a gutted (meaning cut open & rip out) muffler. I'm curious what exactly such muffler hack involves -- gut the entire thing, or perhaps just open up certain parts..? It would also be interesting to know how different the sound would be compared to the stock muff. So, has anyone here done this gut-out hack? -- peer
