  1. Saw your writeup regarding the engine overhaul... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Better than the dealer, congrats. Tried to remove the t-plenum but after loosing the hose clamps from the t-plenum there was no way to move the t-plenum out of the rubber coupling (?). It can not be moved to the side unless one of the intake manifolds (black plastic) is removed to have room to move the t-plenum. At least that is how I see it (I'm not a mechanic just mechanically oriented).
  2. Where is the engine to chassis ground strap. I know is on the passenger side, in the back but where exactly, any pic, drawing, diagram?
  3. Went for a plug. Too much hazel removing the t-plenum, did clean the throttle body though. Thanks logray.
  4. In order to re-connect it, does the alternator has to be removed, or parts #9 and #13? Can the car be driven without re-connecting the hose, what would happen if it not connected?
  5. Loray, do you know what is this inside the yellow square? While working on the alternator had to disconnect the two hoses. When I went to reconnect them, the one inside the green oval that goes connected where the red circle is, the other end is not connected at all. Don't know if ti was like that before working on the alternator or I disconnected it by mistake. If it was disconnected before working on the alternator I have not experience and/or notice any malfunction. Tried to see where the other end goes connected but was not able to see. Thanks.
  6. Took the initiative of doing what you suggested before waiting for an answer. Drilled a bigger hole in the retaining arm and put the brass coupling through it. Think the retaining arm is to prevent the hose to touch the roller. Thanks logray.
  7. While working on the alternator broke the hose inside the red square. Can it be spliced or it has to be completely replaced?
  8. Hi All: Want to rout 2 power and one audio cable from the head unit to the space behind the back seats (mini trunk ?) through the center console, how do I do that? Rather use the right side of the console. Thanks.
  9. I'm a professional "car walker" you can contact me here in Miami. :drive: :D
  10. After reading several posts here and on Rennlist decided to replace the gound cable for the starter and the cable from the alternator to starter. Cheaper that a starter. Just ordered them from Sunset Porsche. Sunset has to order the items (4 days). Will update.
  11. I don't use my 996 as a daily driver, in fact it may be in the garage for a month before is driven. It is a 996 1999, C2, manual. After a month, or even more, in the garage it starts right away (trickel charger), after driving the car for several miles and paking it, when I try to strat it, it won't start. It is like low voltage, however, the meter shows 13 volts. I wait several minutes, and after a couple of tries, it does start. Any ideas, starter issue, grounding issues?
  12. I do know that, on the front and rear speakers, a capacitor is used between the mids and tweeter, to filter/prevent the low frequencies to the teweeter. The speakers on the doors are 5.25 Polks, tha amp is not the OEM but a Hollywood Labs.
  13. Dharn55: You mentioned a set of speakers that the OEM wires needs to be replaced due to a filter/resistor; are those the front or door speakers? I replaced the dash speakers and used the OEM wire, the sound is not like is filtered. Contrary to the doors speakers, 5.25 Polks, no matter how high the treble is the sound is muffled. Always suspected the door speakers had some sort of filter but never been able to find it, not even on the wiring diagram.
  14. Congrats. I have one like that, 1999, black interior. You'll LOVE it.
  15. Where can someone get the software to make a clone PST2 without copying copyrighted material? Does Porsche sells the PST2 software in order to make a clone PST2? If not, does anyone with a clone PST2 has copied copyrighted material?
  16. How much for the hard drive image of a PST2 clone? Is it hard to get?
  17. Hi guys: Are 997 brake pads compatible with 996 break calipers including the sensors? Thanks
  18. 996 Cs MY99 82500 miles,. No mayor problems. Replaced the starting switch with the new version. Starting problems, replaced battery with an Optima and all OK. Recently bought a Durametric kit and no FAULTS! Awesome car.
  19. Thanks for the prompt responses. Will try to contact Duram.
  20. Hi All: Noticed something strange. It is my understanding that if the alarm LEDs blink twice is an indication of a fault and the alarm horn should sound twice as well. The alarm LED blinks fast twice when locking the car with the remote, no sound from the alarm horn. Durametric 5.1.4.0 shows no faults for the alarm, Durametric 6 does not shows a fault but a exclamation sign inside a yellow circle with no comments or info under that column. Also, any one with Durametric 6 knows how to read the "input signal" screen under the "Alarm" tab? mine does not display any status at all, just blinks now and then, waited a long time and nothing. There is nothing on the Durametric documentation about that screen. Thanks
