  1. Just get under there and start taking bolts out . . . . it's fairly simple on paper but, very akward to do . . . I found that supporting it with a floor jack helped a lot especially when you slide it towards the rear as this is how the exhaust hanger's bolts are freed. do a search and chek out the clutch replacement article on here it might be helpful
  2. I had a similar problem . . . even after changing the clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing; the pedal had a low bite and was sticking halfway . . . bleeding the brakes and clutch with the help of the instructions on here on renntech, solved my problem . . . for now at least . . . happy driving!!! JP
  3. I just changed my clutch and was dreading that I had damaged the flywheel and would have to replace it. . . Luckily, It wasn't that bad at all!!! I ended up using a die grinder with a 50 or 80 grit surface prep disc from northern tool. Took about twenty minutes and I was quite happy with the results. Some pics for your viewing pleasure. Regards, JP Hooie :renntech:
  4. I too am having this problem of the clutch pedal sticking half way up... I just replaced the clutch so, it doesn't slip . . . but, the pedal "sticks" half way up and i have to help it the rest of the way up with my foot everytime I shift. . . after I start to help it, it springs up fairly rapidly to the top of its range. half way up, the clutch seems to be fully engaged (fairly low bite also noted) it does not slip what so ever though . . . Any Ideas??? Thanks in advance, JP Hooie
  5. That is not the same problem. The original problem description here was that the clutch wasn't properly disengaging. That sounds to me like a problem with the hydraulics and from the picture, it doesn't look like the crack could cause that symptom. Your issue is that the clutch is not properly engaging, which could be a worn clutch. I meant that I was having the same soft pedal, low bite as the original poster... I got my pressure plate off and I have a crack just like he showed in the picture...
  6. They just called me back . . . they have it! it is their part #36 FYI
  7. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...ch++replacement The tool is referenced in the document in this post, and I think you can get it through here - http://www.samstagsales.com/ Thanks, I just called Kingsborne . . . waiting for them to call me back . . . If they make one, it will be $10 with free shipping . . . good deal!!!
  8. Does anyone know where I can buy a clutch alignment tool for the '01 Boxster S . . . . I need to get one by this weekend and haven't had much luck finding one. Thanks in advance!
  9. I am getting ready to change my clutch on my '01 S . . . . . same thing this guy is describing but a few months ago, while driving, I had a sudden change of clutch pedal feeling and it has just gotten worse ever since. Now, it slips under medium to heavy load and when in a high gear . . . . really annoying!!! I think I will find something with the pressure plate has gone bad (i.e. cracked) especially since there was a sudden change.
  10. I am having a problem something like this with my 01 S. I push down and the pedal comes back up a little slower than it should.... almost like it is rubbing or catching on something. Any ideas??? 76,000 miles. Clutch is same effort to push down and does not slip. pjsscw@aol.com
