  1. Just swapping the DME is not an option, there is need on more than the DME alone.
  2. The IMS problem is much improved since the latest design on M96/97 engines off MY 06. If you can buy the car with a large discount, i would no doubt. Take your time and wait till the new generation is in the show rooms. The later resale value for the latest of the first generation will not be much lower as the first of the new generation and will compensate a lot of the total costs IMHO.
  3. The rear roof crosses (reinforcement) where the headliner is connected to, just above the rear window, can hit the roof if the fasten kit came loose. The noise sounds as a drum, this was a known problem on some cars. I don't now what kind of sound the noise makes in your car but you can always give it a try.
  4. Only the wheels lined with wood are not available with heating.
  5. The main reason of a failed Cayenne cluster mod is the difference between MY04< (cluster with build-in gateway) and >MY05 (cluster with gateway apart, build under the dash). The clusters are not interchangeable without problems as mentioned in some posts.
  6. alstarz88, the chime is probably disabled, you can turn on the chime with a PIWIS tester.
  7. There is no OEM system available which work with the remote till now, perhaps in the future?
  8. If you are talking about the chain tensioner seal, yes you can messing up the timing, the best is to lock the camshafts with a special tool.
  9. You can go with Mobil1 5W - 50 for Australia, if you can find it.
  10. Please use the search function, it's on the board already.
  11. If you are not familiar with the fitting of the front upper bearing and washers, it's better to remove the struts and do the work on a bench, you have to remove the rear ones anyway. There should be some instructions on the 996/986 forum.
  12. 997 new design IMS started world wide with MY06, the in warranty replaced MY05 engines are all new design.
  13. If your car has a correct dealer completed maintenance manual, you can expect a good compensation, 20k km and 4 years old should still in the range. Porsche knows about the 997 MY05 engine troubles, the worst ever build.
  14. If the car is a C2, check the throttle cable for proper fitment and connection on the throttle body.
  15. I would disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes, reconnect and try again. It is still possible that the control box is dead, especially when the battery ground cable was not disconnected from the chassis during the charge. You can close the soft top manually, a little complicated but reasonable, see owners manual.
  16. The engine is not a jacking point, you have to replace both engine mounts. There are instructions on this board concerning jacking points, do a search.
  17. Don't forget to close the engine compartment lid !!! ;)
  18. It is probably the left inter cooler which contains the most oil, caused by the different positions of the turbo oil return lines left and right. The left side line runs hotter and becomes clogged with oil residues, i would clean the interior of the line first.
  19. We gave always the car's fuel lid as example + the paint code, to match the right color, to the paint mixer or factory.
  20. Please use the board "search" (spark plug change) function, this subject is discussed before.
  21. What i have from the manual: summer 235/40 ZR 18 on 8J x 18 ET 57 - 265/40 ZR 18 on 10J x 18 ET 58 // 235/35 ZR 19 on 8J x 19 ET 57 - 295/30 ZR 19 on 11J x 19 ET 71. winter: 235/40 R 18 on 8J x 18 ET 57 - 265/40 R 18 on 10J x 18 ET 58. Dated 04 - 2004 for European cars, could be different for US and already overhauling.
  22. A defective MAF sensor can't recover by cleaning, only a dirty one at best. ;)
  23. PM member berty987, i thought he has explained ones.
  24. Take note that Turbo and GT2/3 engines makes more noise ( by construction ) on the rear side than Carrera's.
  25. The tyre dimensions for 18" and 19" are the same as in the manual for 997. Looks good so far.
