  1. Hi Chris, I actually looked around and around and ended up doing the work myself. It was somewhat of an undertaking, but I ended up enjoying the process tremendously, I learned a lot about my car, and I am extremely happy with the results. I have to thank many of the members of this forum, from who I got a lot of valuable information from and ultimately Rod from Car Audio Innovations, who is a porsche audio genius and helped me source my gear! ( http://www.caraudioinnovations.com/porsche.htm ). I would be happy to give you any tips I can if you decide to do it yourself. Good Luck! Ralph
  2. Totally agree.......i changed mine out with a JL Audio 5 channel amp....
  3. I just upgraded my 996 with a new Kenwood DNX8120 and put Focal speakers all around. I used the 100KP in the dash (slight modification needed to mount them to the grills). and 13KS in the doors. Could not sound any better! You may want to do a search for "Focal" here on these forums. You will find very useful information on the modifications required.
  4. I have a 996 C4 and just replaced my dash, rear and door speakers to Focal component speakers (Focal 100KP's for dash and rears and Focal 13KS subs for the doors). They require some modifications, but not too dificult if you are handy with a Dremel tool. If you search for "Focal" here in the forums, you can find several DYI projects with very detailed explanations. If you don't want to do this step yourself, you can have Rod at Car Audio Innovations (http://www.caraudioinnovations.com/ in California mount them for you. He is very knowledgeable on Porsche aftermarket sound systems. I am extremely pleased with the results. The system sounds amazing! Good luck with your project!
  5. Hi gang! I have a 2003 996 C4. I have just finished installing a complete aftermarket sound/navigation system and I could not be happier with the results of that project! Unfortunately, I have not been able to enjoy it because my car won't start :( . Here are some important data points: - Brand New Battery installed today - Old battery had been disconnected for 4 to 5 days prior to new battery installation - Key fits in ignition just fine. Turns OK. - No prior electrical problems. - Dash, radio, headlights, etc. work fine - When turning the key and depressing the clutch I get nothing. Engine will not even turn. - I get two system warnings: Anti-Roll Warning and Airbag warning which I had never gotten before. - Tried to raise the roof and can't using the the switch. - Checked clutch micro switch and its OK (saw this on a search on this site) - Alarm seems to work fine It is really frustrating. Any thoughts? Would love to hit the road this weekend! Thanks!
  6. I would like to start by saying thanks Loren and all of the active contributors to these forums for all of the wealth of knowledge in these pages. I feel I can get anything done with you guys by my side! :renntech: I recently installed a Rennline set of perforated aluminum pedals in my 2003 C4 and also did the garage door/targa switch mod. The installations went as smooth as can be thanks to the information I found here. It would have easily taken me twice as long had I not had the tips I found. My next project starts tomorrow, which is a full upgrade of the factory audio system. I am going with an aftermarket NAV/SAT system with new speakers and amps. I have a MOST system, so it may be a bit of a challenge, but I have good tips, help and info I have found through here. I plan to post pics of the install progress to "give back" to this community. Thanks again! Ralph
  7. Hi guys! First of all, congrats on a great forum. It has been tremendously useful in many, many ways. I just purchased a 2003 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet Aero with a BOSE system upgrade, which I believe uses the MOST system. I am looking to upgrade the sound system with an aftermarket solution that includes NAV, Sirius, IPOD or IPHONE integration and/or Bluetooth. I have seen all of the great installs and suggestions on the site from all of the DYI-ers, but am not quite ready to venture off on my own on this install. My brother-in-law (who is a contributing member of this forum) and I installed an AVIC in his 2001 Cabrio, but his did not have the MOST system. Can any of you guys recommend an Atlanta area install shop with experience and good qualifications? I have heard wonders about Rod at Car Audio Innovations in California, but his shop is too far from me. I would appreciate any info you guys could share.... Ralph
  8. Hi guys! Hoping you can save me a trip to the dealer. Yesterday I lowered the back seats on my wife's '06 Cayenne to bring home some items we bought at the store. After unloading all of the items I attempted to raise the rear seats to their upright position and the seat was stuck. Upon further inspection, I noticed that it was the middle seat belt that was stuck and would not budge. Since it doesn't give way, I can't raise the seat. I have tried pulling on the belt briskly to see if it would release, but no luck. I really don't want to take it in to the dealer since the nearest dealer is 60 miles away. Any suggestions? Anyone encounter this issue? Thanks for all the support! Ralph
