  1. Hi, I had the same problem before at 61 000. I changed all my spark plugs hoping it would go away. After changing all spark plugs I got more missfire codes from two more cylinders. The problem is that there is not much room to change the coils, so you have to twist them a little, and if they are old ones they crack and cause more problems. After buying all new coil packs ($60 a piece) I didn't have any problems. Kristian
  2. Usually when the part number changes but the product is the same, the manufacturer of the product changed. I know that Beru has used at least to different manufacturers to produce these coils. It should not make a difference in performance. I see these same coils beginning with 996 and 997 serial numbers on different websites. Kristian
  3. Thanks for the info. I have a few more questions. Where should I put the tranny jack? Is the weigh pretty even so that I can put it on the middle? I got an universal clutch centering tool from Napa for $30, so problem got solved. Do I have to use it on both the clutch and the flywheel? Does the flywheel have to be in a specific position when i replace. Meaning, do I have to mark how the old one was on? ThanksKristian
  4. Hi, I just found a universal centering tool that fits 16 sizes at Napa autoparts $30. Thanks guys Kristian
  5. Hi, (Carrera 4 1999) I'm about to replace my clutch and flywheel, but I want to know if I need a clutch centering tool to do it. If that's the case where can I get one? Thanks Kristian
  6. I just bought a flywheel and a clutch kit for my 1999 Carrera 4 (64 000 miles). The first question I have is that the clutch kit did not come with a allignment tool. I haven't seen them on sale any where, so do I even need one? When I asked for instructions for replacing a clutch and flywheel I was referred to a RMS seal replacement DIY on C-Speedracing.com. http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto/996rms/rms1.php It is a great DIY with a lot of pictures. They pick the everything apart, but they don't really tell me how to put it back including all the torgue requirements on different bolts on the flywheel and the clutch. Does anybody know of any DIY with all that information? Thanks Kristian :(
  7. I bought a remanufactured duralast alternator from autozone.com for $300 with shipping with $105 core return. So it ended up costing under $200. When I took the core back to Autozone, they refunded me the whole $300 in error..... :) So it was a free alternator for me Kristian
  8. I'm actually just looking for a Clutch Power Spring (hydraulic pump) DIY at first, before I do the clutch and flywheel. I just bought the part from the internet and I don't even know where the part is to start with. Trying out a cheap solution first. Thanks Kristian
  9. I found some good deals at www.autozone.com, pelicanparts and ebay kristian
  10. My clutch started making noise a few weeks ago and now it stopped, but the clutch feels like it comes up quicker than before. It has a bit vibration that it never had before, but otherwise the clutch works well. I'm thinking about replacing the clutch spring and see if it helps before i will look into replacing the clutch and flywheel. Is there instructions to do that? I tried to look in the DIY, but no luck. Has anybody done this before? kristian The part number is 996.423.081.11
  11. Yes, I bought my alternator there too with a $100 core return. I compared the prices for a clutch and flywheel with Ebay, and Autozone got a better price. Kristian Seriously?? :o B
  12. Hi, I'm thinking about replacing my clutch, flywheel and RMS. I put these words separate on the search, but I don't find DIY's. I've had trouble searching this site before. Could somebody tell me what to do to find these links please. Kristian 1999 Carrera 4 64 000
  13. 1999 carrera 4, I'm thinking about changing the clutch and the flywheel myself too. I shopped for new parts and it seems like Autozone has a good deal. Now I just have to find a deal on the RMS tool, since I'm changing that too. Kristian
  14. I heard the screach for a few weeks, but then the whole belt broke. I found out one of the bearings had locked up. It was twisted but it did not damage the engine.. I would check all your bearings because it can cause a lot of damage kristian
  15. Has anybody done a clutch replacement before? Is it a job you can do yourself and do you need any special tools? What parts do I have to buy to replace it and is there anything else I should replace at the same time? I saw some clutch kits on Ebay for $400, does this do the job? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SACHS-NEW-C...sspagenameZWD1V Thanks Kristian <_<
  16. Porsche carrera 4 63700 1999 I was driving today and my clutch felt totally different. It felt lighter and it started grabbing earlier. When I drove a few miles it got a bit worse. Now it vibrates when I take off on first gear. I was just wondering if that actually means that I have to change the clutch or maybe just the hydraulic pump. Hoiw can I find out and how hard is it to do those jobs? Thanks guys Kristian
  17. HI, I just found out that my alternator was bad. I bought one online today from Autozone and I will have it in two days. I tried to goto DIY to find a article about doing the job, but I could not find any. Does anybody have a link to replacing an alternator on a 1999 Carrera 4 (63 000 Miles) Thanks Kristian
  18. 1999 carrera 4 convertible 62 000 My convertible top started stopping on the middle of it's cycle about a month ago. I had in mind to check the reservoir fluid, but never got to it. Now it does not go down at all. Is there a manual tool I can buy to get this top down? (I remember somebody mentioning it before). If it's included with the factory tools, how does it look like? Does anybody have instructions how to add fluid when the top is not working normally? Thanks Kristian
  19. My car did not come with a crest, but I ordered an original crest that goes on with double sided tape. KL Does the steering wheel crest just glue on? I may replace mine as for some reason it only has one red stripe and the rest are gold and black.
  20. How do you remove the amber from the headlights? kristian

  23. Congratiolations! I got mine two years ago and it's been the best thing I've ever bought. I usually buy my original parts at either Sunset Imports or Pelican Parts. Interior and exterior accessories I buy from Ebay. I have aluminum gauge rings and pedals, led 3rd brake lights and side markers. I also got a new hood and wheel crest. Good luck with your new car. kristian
