A stereo shop could probably answer your amp questions, but I think the Bose unit uses it's own amp (mounted under the passenger seat?) Good luck with the install!

I just wanted to let you know that I think it looks great. I am thinking about doing something similar, so I can have running lights without burning out my headlight bulbs. I was wondering if you could help me out with a few questions.

How did you attach the LED lights to the grill?

Did you run the wires up under the bumper then through the headlight opening to the trunk?

Where did you tap into the ignition power?

The fog light is made to only illuminate on one side so that people following you don't think your braking the entire tie the light is on. I also think is a legal safety regulation in some areas.

If you search a few people have posted a DIY on making both lights turn on when your fog light is on, but I wouldn't recommend doing it.

well... "cool" is a matter of personal taste. You'll need to look into the after-market for spoilers like that (Techart, Gambella possibly).

If you put one of those on you will certainly stand out. ^_^

Cool, is certainly a matter of personal taste. In my opinion, those spoilers are sort of ricey to put on a German car.

Just make sure your prepared to drill a few holes through your trunk, and post some picks when your done.

This is not a hard DIY. It took me less than an hour once I had all the parts, and it was my first time taking the center console apart. Once you get the Becker AUX cable, you needs a PIE-RCA cable. Wire the power and ground to the telephone connector, and hook up the RCA cables. You will probably also need a ground loop isolation.

Do a search for more information.

Their is a plug under the center console that is not connected to anything, the telephone power plug. If you do a search you should be able to find some information, and the color code for the wires.

You can't replace just the ash tray cover lid, you can replace the whole thing.

You should look at the pinout for that radio. I know that on the CR-220 that there is a sticker on top of the radio with the pinout. You call Becker and see if the AUX cable will work with it.

You can always just use a cassette tape with a 3.5mm jack.

I went with the Porsche stuff. It is $35 a gallon but you actually get 2 gallons since it is 50/50 with distilled water. Plus, if you're just topping it off I would use the same thing as what is in the car which is probably the Porsche coolant, unless you've changed it. Also, make sure to avoid air bubbles, they can cause problems.

I would go with the '04 S solely because I think they look better than the 987.

The fuel could have something to do with it, especially different octane's. Wind, roads surface, altitude, and temp. could also play a small role in fuel economy, but I don't think it will make a huge difference. I also get noticeable worst milage in California too, and I think it is due to all the extra additives that are required there.

I have a 2.5L and my driving style is spirited, and I average about 20-22mpg when it is about 50/50. When I am doing about 80 highway / 20 city I get up to about 25-26mpg, and on road trips with the cruise control I have gotten up to about 30-34mpg.

I did some research on this before I mounted my snow tires. The most reasonable priced place that was willing to cover the cost of the wheels if they got hurt was Discount Tire. It was $55 to get all four tires mounted and balanced.

Until recently I had a few sites that I visited to get Boxster information, but no one place had all of the information together.

I recently discovered that the source, Porsche, has all of this information in one place. They have all the Technical Parts Information on there website, including the information for almost all of the Porsche's ever made. I just wanted to let you guys know about this, and I highly recommend that you download the Boxster Parts Catalogue, it is 446 pages of diagrams, part numbers, and Boxster information.

I don't know if anyone else knew about this, but it is a great resource, so just thought I would share! :D

With some more research, I found a parts illustration of the 986 hardtop interior. It is illustration 811-16, and I found that officially called clamps these little clips are part number: 999.507.764.40.

I would also like to upgrade the dash speakers. Does anyone know if vfxbox is still making the adapter rings?

I just finished soldering the relay, and got everything back together. After a bit of confusion about which wires go where, I have successfully, added intermittent wipers to my Boxster for under $70. That's $40 less than the eBay kit, and about $25 more than the VW relay (And it is worth it to get rid of the dummy switch).

I will finish the install tomorrow, and hopefully have the DIY up by tomorrow night. The intervals are between about 6-30 seconds, which is great, because if you need anything faster you can just adjust the stalk to the fast setting. In my experience, the longer intervals are where you need intermittent wipers. :D

The cover over the latch my hardtop just broke, and I need to order a new one. I have the part number for it, but since I will be placing an order at Sunset I might as well order a few other things, as long as I am paying shipping (this event had really bad timing because I just placed an order with Sunset that arrived a few days ago).

So my question is, does anyone know the part number of the small metal clips that hold the interior trim of the hardtop in place?

One of mine is broken so the interior plastic trim, that runs along the drivers side of the hardtop, is not staying in place.

That is normal. I have measured my speed with my GPS, and with one of those police drive-by speed targets, and my car is off by about 3mph. It is no big deal, just remember that your actually going x mph over, so you don't end up speeding.

Depending on the severity of the accident, the top may be bent, and not fit on another car.

I don't like bumping old threads, but there is no point in creating a new one.

Anyway, I finally got around to ordering all the parts to do this hack, from Sunset Imports. ( I also ordered a rear speakers kit, US spec. cigarette lighter, spoiler switch, and a few other things)

I cracked open the relay, and have figured out how to solder all the wires, and hook all this up. It is actually a fairly straight forward hack, once you have all the information you need to understand what is going on. Once I complete the hack, I will post pictures, and DIY instructions on my site, and here.

Hopefully I can find time to do this in the next week! :D
