  1. I have had the same problem.

First, remove the radio keys and make sure the cables aren't tangled behind it. Also, the cables infront (in your picture) aren't under the radio.

There is a metal bracket/plate that the radio rests on in the center console. If you just push it straight back it will hit this bracket and won't go in. I have done this so much I have pretty good at it. The trick is to push the radio in while pushing down on it, so the back pivots up, hopefully so back will get over the bracket then you can slide it in. You can also remove the AC and the you will have enough room to push the radio over this bracket.

  2. Anyway, back on topic.

I agree about not parting with your money until it has been tested. This mod is actually just a DIY version of the $130+ strut braces you can buy. I am planning on doing it in the next month so hopefully I can give some insight into the improvements it makes then. But anything that keeps the chassis from bending is going to improve cornering ability.

  3. I would like to apologize. I misread your post. It just sounded like your were saying you didn't care about the opinions of anyone except the renntech users, and you didn't want the opinion of people who visit different forums. I also read the entire 986forum post, and saw a few comments on it adding improvements to everyday driving, so that information is in there just not as in-depth.

I am embarrassed that I got so worked up, Sorry!

  4. Yes, it mounts to the ears.

I will call up Sunset and see if they sell the newer mounts seperately. All I want to know is if I can use the use the new mounts on the original RTS, or if the newer RTS has a different shape and can be used with the older hardtop mounts.

And just a statement of fact I was unaware of before I bought the RTS, is that the older style came with both hardtop and softtop mounts. The newer version is the same except that, it has one universal hardtop/softop mount instead of two seperate ones.

  5. Do you have this mount?

No, I have the original hardtop only mounts, and the soft top only mount. The hardtop only mounts mount on the hardtop, the softtop only mounts cannot be used with a hardtop because they curve in. When they revised the RTS they made one mount that is for both hardtop/softtop use.

I want to use the ones that are hardtop/softtop compatible, like the one you pictured. My question is:

Can you use these new mounts on the older style RTS? Do you have the PN?

    Thanks!

  6. I just skimmed the other posts, but Hankooks are the tires police, etc. use.

I actually got all four of my snow tires on eBay for $430 shipped, check out eBay you might be able to find a good deal.

I went with dedicated snows because I plan on driving up to the ski resort, but if you aren't planning on that all seasons should be fine.

    Also, search 1010tires.com for reviews.

  7. Hi,

I recently purchased a RTS for $300 used. I plan on using it this ski season, but ever since I mounted it on my hardtop I have been getting a lot more creaking, and noise than normal. Is it possible to mount the older style RTS on the newer body mounted brackets? If so, does anyone have the part numbers of the body mounted RTS brackets?

Plus, if I have the RTS mounted on the body, then if I am ever in am accident the RTS will keep my hardtop from flying off.

    Thanks! :D

  8. I've done two 1600+ roundtrip roadtrips. After I got the problems from the previous owner fixed, I have had no problems. If you have a hardtop make sure you have the correct allen wrenches, and I agree to just check your oil, tire pressure, especially the spare, and take a tire goo bottle, because if your rear tire goes out it won't fit anywhere in the car, or in either trunk. My Boxster is reliable and I am sure most others are as well.

  9. Thanks, Tool Pants.

I know the batwings are cheap, but I like the idea of two switches. I am going to install my AUX input on the left in a button. And make a custom Ejection Seat logo for the right button. Just thought I would have some fun with it, but I don't want it to be permanent that is why I will be doing the drilling and sticker application on the blanks not the bating. Then when I get bored with the Ejection Seat logo I can replace it cheaper than buying a new batwing. With a new Oil Slick, Machine Gun, or Cloaking Device button.

What would look better gloss or matte, on the batwing?

I am leaning towards the matte.
